Because the war economy (weapons and narcotics) is as important as the world’s oil economy, American covert forces can play a central role in calibrating the level of violence in different regions in order to generate hundreds of billions of dollars in profits through arms and drug trafficking.
In some cases, the American strategy for prolonging a war is to support both sides of the conflict.
