| 4 | Researcher and author Harold Weisberg argued that the first thing one must do to determine who was behind the Kennedy assassination is to ask two questions:
“Who benefited from it, and which of those who benefited were in a position to frame Lee Harvey Oswald?”
According to Weisberg, this ruled out the Mafia as well as right-wing and left-wing extremist groups.
Instead, he concluded that those who had both the means and the motive were the forces that feared and opposed Kennedy’s foreign-policy initiatives concerning Vietnam and the Soviet Union:
“There was a very powerful, well-connected coalition that opposed the winding down of the Vietnam venture and feared that Kennedy would act to free us from what they viewed as a potentially lucrative war.”

Mabra and Police Officer Orville Smith were standing on the sidewalk in front of the courthouse on Houston Street. Approximately one minute after the car had turned right onto Houston Street, the officers heard three shots fired, whereupon Smith turned to Mabra and exclaimed, “That sounded like a deer rifle!”
Five days later, Sheriff Mabra wrote the following in his police report:

| 9 | "On August 22, 1957, Lee Harvey Oswald departed from San Diego for Japan aboard the USS Bexar.
In September, he was assigned to Marine Air Control Squadron 1 (MACS-1) at the top-secret underground base at Naval Air Facility Atsugi, where he worked with classified radar equipment.
Atsugi was also the base from which the highly secret Lockheed U-2 spy plane operated on missions over Soviet territory.
Only the most capable recruits were assigned to Atsugi, and as a consequence of his position there, Oswald received a security clearance—an authorization granting access to military areas containing classified information.
According to the author, this and other facts call into question portrayals of Oswald as an unintelligent failure."

The name can be traced to the Latin word eulogia, meaning “blessing,” and has sometimes been associated with the Eucharist. Eulogia can also signify eloquence, and one version of the story holds that the group’s name derives from the fact that its members worshipped a Greek goddess named Eulogia, who was said to have ascended to heaven together with the eloquent Greek philosopher Demosthenes after his death in 322 BC.
It has been speculated that the number 322, which appears beneath the skull in the fraternity’s emblem, refers to the idea that the Order originated from—or identifies itself with—a Greek brotherhood dating back to the time of Demosthenes’ death in 322 BC.
The affairs of Skull & Bones were managed by the Russell Trust Association under the leadership of Daniel Coit Gilman, the first president of Johns Hopkins University and also a co-founder of the Carnegie Institution for Science.¹"

| 11 | "After studying the 26 volumes of the Warren Commission report in detail, businessman John Armstrong found so much information suggesting that there may have been an Oswald double that he launched a full-time investigation of his own.
The theory of an Oswald double had already been advanced in 1966 by Professor Richard H. Popkin in the book The Second Oswald. Popkin pointed to several details that, in his view, suggested the existence of a double and argued that all observations of a second Oswald constituted evidence of a conspiracy.
Armstrong, for his part, spent twelve years researching and reading everything he could find about Oswald and the Kennedy assassination. The project took him not only to the National Archives and Records Administration in Washington and to several U.S. states, but also to Switzerland and Argentina."

| 13 | At a press conference at Parkland Hospital after Kennedy had been pronounced dead, one of the reporters asked Dr. Malcolm Perry to describe the wound in Kennedy’s throat:
“Doctor, describe the entry wound. You believe it came from the front, in the throat?”
Dr. Perry replied:
“The wound appeared to be an entry wound on the front of the throat, yes, that is correct.”
One of the journalists who interviewed Perry was Connie Kritzberg of the Dallas Times Herald. When Kritzberg’s article was published the following day, she was surprised to discover that someone had added a sentence to her story.
Kritzberg herself had written:
“The hole in the front of the throat was described as an entry wound. The wound in the back of the head, the major one, was either an exit wound or a tangential exit wound.”¹
Immediately after those lines, someone else had inserted an additional sentence, which read:
“One doctor conceded that it was possible that there was only one wound.”²

| 14 | After the failed 1961 invasion attempt of Cuba by U.S.-backed Cuban exiles, Kennedy discussed the Bay of Pigs incident with a Supreme Court justice named William O. Douglas. “That episode burned him,” Douglas later said:
“He had experienced the extraordinary power these groups possessed, the various kinds of covert influence that the CIA and the Pentagon exerted over civilian policy, and I think it raised a fear in his mind: Could Jack Kennedy, President of the United States, ever be strong enough to truly control these two powerful institutions? I believe it had a profound effect … it shook him deeply!”
Although Kennedy was upset by what had happened, he fully understood the danger of the situation and the importance of keeping a cool head.
