Ebola and Hantavirus are NOT the same thing. Hantavirus is associated with rodents and is mainly linked to exposure to contaminated rodent materials. Ebola spreads through direct contact with the blood or other body fluids of an infected person or someone who has died from the disease. NCDC continues to monitor both situations separately. #Ebola #Hantavirus #PublicHealth #HealthAwareness #StayInformed #HealthSecurity

In Week 29 and 30 of 2026, Nigeria recorded decreased Lassa Fever activity. In week 29, a total of 173 new suspected cases were reported, along with 20 new confirmed cases and 2 new confirmed death. In Week 30, 227 new suspected cases, 17 confirmed cases and 6 confirmed deaths were recorded, with cases reported across 23 states and 116 Local Government Areas (LGAs). While the number of confirmed cases declined, the continued detection of cases and deaths reinforces the need for constant vigilance, early detection and prompt response. Everyone has a role to play in preventing Lassa fever. Protect yourself and prevent Lassa fever by: ✅ Keeping your environment clean and free of rodents ✅ Storing food in tightly covered containers ✅ Disposing of waste properly and keeping homes clutter-free ✅ Seeking medical care early when you notice symptoms such as fever, weakness, headache, or bleeding. 🔗 Read the full Situation Report: Week 29: https://ncdc.gov.ng/themes/common/files/sitreps/85abecf63f1eaf25b8e5b6fb871eeff3.pdf Week 30: https://ncdc.gov.ng/themes/common/files/sitreps/f4e7c9199cc83d82bfa149d43bfb6ed9.pdf #LassaFever #StaySafe #NCDCNigeria
