An engineer by training — Engineering Services Exam 2021, All India Rank 3 — Rahul joined CPWD in March 2023 and, in classic engineer fashion, treated his UPSC Civil Services prep like a load-bearing structure: no shortcuts, or the whole thing collapses.
First principle: prioritization. Not "study everything," but understand what the exam actually rewards. Second: attention-span arbitrage — 15-minute lecture windows during office hours, note revision squeezed into training breaks, test series solved on commute. Third, and the one nobody puts on a motivational reel: leave management. Save your annual leaves like RAM — don't burn them on Prelims uncertainty, hoard them for Mains, because Prelims only eliminates; Mains is where selection actually happens.

Sheershoo Deb— Mechanical Engineer, full-time job at Caterpillar India, failed SSB before, failed CAPF Paper 1 in 2024.
2025 — UPSC CAPF Assistant Commandant, AIR 1.
His formula: 4 hours of quality study + PYQ analysis + NCERT + mocks + constant revision, alongside his job — 2 hours morning, 2 hours night. Not 10-hour marathons, just focused hours.
2024's lesson: he leaned too hard on Science-Maths as an engineer. In 2025, every subject got equal attention. And Physical prep — CAPF's most underrated hurdle — got just as much focus as the books.
His rule: "Less is more. Limited sources, deep consolidation beats unlimited resources and surface reading."
