She got her eyes prodded and poked. She deserved a pup cup.

Thank you thank you thank you for praying for our Dax girl, and me. A wonderful veterinary ophthalmologist, Dr. Pucket in Tulsa, saw Dax and diagnosed her with two things. First, diffuse scleritis, the white part of one eye is very red, inflamed. Most often caused by an altered immune system response (I’m gthinking vaccinations?) and if untreated can cause vision loss. He started her on a strong steroid eye drops, 4 times a day, which will be tapered down as the inflammation begins to clear. Then when it is controlled, she will get a different eye drops to prevent the inflammation from returning, so eye drops for the rest of her life. And always, treats after she gets her eye drops! The other issue is that her pupil is more dilated and doesn’t react to light as much, which is a loss of the iris muscle. He said this is common in poodles (she is a golden doodle, F1b, so 75% poodle genetically), and no treatment is necessary, although she is young to get this. In bright light, she might squint in that eye as it doesn’t dilate as much. We see him again in 6 weeks. It was a relief to finally, after 2 months of back and forth from my regular vet and even going to get a second opinion from a new vet, and using all sorts of prescription and non-prescription eye drops, we finally have what I believe is an accurate diagnosis! Yay, God!

Scott and I appreciate prayers for Miss Dax. She just turned 6. We have had several visits, over a couple months, with our vet, went to another vet for a second opinion, and tomorrow see an ophthalmologist vet. The sclera, or white part, of her left eye was beat red. Antibiotics, steroids, lubricating drops have been used. No foreign object, no corneal scratches, her pressure is normal so no glaucoma, a slight start of a cataract, and NO other symptoms. Now her pupil in that one eye is very slow to react. As an RN, I know too much… Please pray a quick diagnosis, and an easy treatment with no pain for our sweet Dax girl.
