60. Hegelian Dialectic Philosophy is perhaps one of the most contentious disciplines, as it focuses on fundamental concepts concerning existence, knowledge, values, reason, mind and language. One controversial philosophical argument is the Hegelian Dialectic. It is defined as a philosophical framework describing how ideas evolve through a process of conflict and resolution, where an initial proposal (thesis) encounters its opposite (antithesis), leading to a more progressive and comprehensive understanding (synthesis) that protects and transcends the original principle. Modern interpretations of the Hegelian Dialectic have evolved this concept to the 'problem, reaction, solution' (PRS) model, which is frequently used in political and social analysis, particularly within 'conspiracy theories' and critiques of power structures. Here, it is postulated that a problem is deliberately created or intensified (thesis), often through manufactured events. It is then broadcast, magnified and popularised by mainstream media, leading to public fear, anxiety or hysteria (antithesis) and once that is established, a solution is offered to the initial problem (synthesis). This would only be possible to impose upon the people with the proper psychological conditioning achieved in previous stages. The aforementioned solutions typically involve the expansion or overreach of governmental powers. Often the antithesis is so egregious that a society is prepared to pay the price of abandoning personal liberties and national sovereignty for a return to domestic tranquility and world peace. This PRS method is described as a powerful tool used by the ruling elite to manipulate and shape public opinion with the intention of gaining approval for the implementation of socio-political controls. While the original Hegelian dialectic aimed at achieving a higher truth through rational discourse, the problem-reaction-solution framework is often portrayed as a manipulative strategy used in social and political engineering. Some argue that there is a misuse of the Hegelian dialectic, especially in relation to the inclusion of false flag events or manufactured crises that seemingly allow those in power to push through authoritarian measures or economic reforms that only benefit a select few. Noam Chomsky, an American professor and intellectual known for his work in linguistics, political activism and social criticism, supports this theory, stating, "The media focuses on an issue to evoke a strong audience reaction with the intention of gaining acceptance for a preset solution. For instance, manufacture an economic crisis to curtail social rights and reduce public services." Additionally, those in society that are complying are praised publicly and those who do not are shamed and shunned. According to historical accounts, a devastating fire destroyed much of Rome in 64 CE. Nero is alleged to have deliberately ignited it, blaming Christians to deflect suspicion, leading to their persecution and execution. The solution, and original plan, was to eliminate the targeted group. During the Cold War in 1962, the U.S. military developed the Northwoods Document, a secret plan that proposed staging terrorist attacks against American civilians and blaming them on Cuba, generating public support for a military invasion and the overthrowing of Fidel Castro. Both events applied the PRS model. Critics argue that the 9/11 attacks created a perceived national emergency, leading to widespread public support for the U.S. government response, including the passage of the Patriot Act, the expansion of domestic surveillance and the initiation of two wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Some claim that the timing of the attacks, occurring just days after investigations into missing funds found by the accounting department at the Pentagon, raises questions about the broader context and motivations behind the governmental response.
