The Ethiopian Dental Professionals Association (EDPA) is honored to have officially represented Ethiopia's dental profession at MedEdAfrica 2026, held from 6–8 July 2026 in Addis Ababa, under the theme: "Preparing Africa's Health Workforce for an Uncertain Future: Harnessing Partnerships, Technology, Innovation, and Leadership." We extend our sincere appreciation to the Ministry of Health- Ethiopia for the official invitation and for recognizing the importance of including the dental profession in this high-level continental dialogue. Such inclusion reflects a shared commitment to ensuring that oral health and dental education remain integral components of Ethiopia's broader health workforce development agenda. #MedEdAfrica is more than a conference it is a strategic platform where policies are shaped, partnerships are forged, and innovative solutions are translated into action. As health professions education continues to evolve, Ethiopia's dental education system must actively engage in these conversations to remain globally relevant and responsive to the country's healthcare needs. EDPA believes that the future of dental education depends on our collective ability to: 🔸Modernize curricula through competency-based and technology-enabled learning. 🔸Strengthen academic partnerships across Africa and beyond. 🔸Promote educational research and evidence-informed teaching practices. 🔸Build faculty leadership and institutional capacity. 🔸 Foster interprofessional education and collaborative practice. 🔸Prepare graduates who are equipped to address emerging oral health challenges and contribute to resilient health systems. EDPA remains committed to working alongside the Ministry of Health, academic institutions, regulatory bodies, professional associations, and development partners to translate these opportunities into meaningful reforms that improve education, strengthen the oral health workforce, and ultimately enhance patient care. The future of oral health begins with the education we provide today.
