June 12 | Hundreds of workers from different sectors across Delhi-NCR, including those from Noida, Manesar, and the Okhla industrial area, as well as workers from the security, sanitation, domestic work, and construction sectors, participated in the Workers' Convention organized by the All India Central Council of Trade Unions (AICCTU) at Surjeet Bhawan, New Delhi, under the theme "Raise Wages, Stop Repression." Teachers, students, lawyers, intellectuals, and democratic activists also joined the convention in solidarity with the ongoing workers' struggles in Noida, Manesar, Panipat, Surat, and other industrial centres. Workers from Manesar who have faced arrests and repression shared their experiences. Trade union leaders and lawyers involved in challenging the ongoing cases and police actions against workers in Manesar and Noida also addressed the gathering. Workers from various sectors in Delhi spoke about their struggles and expressed solidarity with workers' movements across the country. The convention unanimously demanded a substantial increase in wages, an end to repression, the withdrawal of all false cases against workers and activists, and the immediate release of all those jailed for participating in democratic workers' movements.

Raise Wages, Stop Repression: Workers' Convention Calls for Release of Jailed Workers and Recognition of Workers' Rights

It is disgraceful that the Indian government has refused to unequivocally condemn and hold the US military accountable for the attacks in which three Indian seafarers were killed and the safety of several other Indians was threatened at sea. In fact, the day after MV Settebello was attacked and the MEA merely issued a routine demarche to the US envoy, another Indian-crewed ship, MV Jalveer, was attacked by the US military off the coast of Oman. And on the very day three Indian mariners were killed, PM Modi was busy thanking his “dear friend Trump” and saying that he “looked forward to working with him to further advance India-US ties”, while refusing to say a single word about the killing of Indian seafarers. These actions clearly show the Modi regime’s complete contempt for the lives and safety of Indians, just as it did through its silence during the shameful deportation of Indians in handcuffs and shackles. This is the price India is paying for the Modi government’s mortgaging of India’s strategic autonomy and national interests to the US-Israel imperialist axis. The INDIA Alliance meeting held in New Delhi today unanimously agreed on the following five points: 1️⃣ A letter will be sent to the Chief Justice of India regarding the SIR and the issue of electoral disenfranchisement. 2️⃣ Call for immediate resignation of the Union Education Minister over recurring examination paper leaks. 3️⃣ The Union Government should immediately convene an all-party meeting to discuss the worsening economic situation, including price rise, unemployment, the agrarian crisis, and other issues affecting the people. 4️⃣ INDIA Alliance parties will meet once every two months. The next meeting will be held in Hyderabad in August, with the date to be finalized soon. 5️⃣ During the Monsoon Session of Parliament, alliance parties will hold daily coordination meetings at the Leader of the Opposition's office in Parliament.

Red Salute | Comrades Vivek and Rajkumar, workers in Manesar who were arrested and put behind bars merely for demanding wage increase and labour rights, have been released on bail after AICCTU’s intervention. So far, 12 of the 17 arrested workers have secured their release. Each release marks an important step forward in this struggle. The fight will continue and victory will ultimately belong to the workers.

Adani’s Capture of FCI Silo Contracts Exposes Modi Government’s Assault on Food Security. The Central Committee of CPI(ML) strongly condemns the removal of the 'Anti-Monopoly' clause to facilitate the handing over of Food Corporation of India (FCI) silo contracts to Adani Agri Logistics Ltd and Leap India Food & Logistics Pvt Ltd. The FCI had originally proposed an anti-monopoly clause to prevent any single company from dominating this strategically important project. However, the NITI Aayog and the Department of Economic Affairs reportedly compelled the removal of this clause in 2022. Subsequently, bidding resulted in these two companies securing contracts worth approximately ₹16,500 crore out of the programme's total value of ₹20,000 crore. Together, they now control 46.5 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) of the project's total 60 LMT storage capacity, amounting to 77.5% of the total planned capacity. The FCI was established on 1 January 1965 under the Food Corporations Act, 1964, enacted by Parliament to procure, store, transport and distribute foodgrains, support remunerative prices for farmers, and safeguard the country's food security and price stability. This backdoor privatisation and monopolisation of FCI's grain storage infrastructure constitutes a direct attack on India's food security and sovereignty and threatens to undermine the objectives and gains achieved through the Food Corporations Act, 1964. -- Central Committee, CPI(ML) Liberation
