A protest was held at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi against the illegal actions of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the unconstitutional SIR process, which has arbitrarily disenfranchised lakhs of voters across India.
CPI(ML) Liberation, CPI(M), CPI and AISA, SFI activists, along with several left and progressive students and members of civil society, were brutally detained by the Delhi Police during the protest, which called for the removal of CEC Gyanesh Kumar and an immediate halt to the SIR process.
As protesters gathered in Delhi, the Modi-Shah regime unleashed colonial-style repression against the people fighting to save democracy. But despite this repression and brutality, thousands marched to Jantar Mantar in Delhi, raising their demands and carrying forward the fight to save democracy.

On Gandhi Jayanti, as the country asks for justice and protection of democracy against the illegal actions of CEC Gyanesh Kumar and the unconstitutional SIR, Modi-Shah’s police have turned the entire capital into a colonial-style repression, with thousands of police personnel and barricades at every nook and corner.

02 October Protest Call| Remove Vote Chor CEC Gyanesh Kumar!
There is no corruption bigger than the electoral fraud. The loss of fear of losing an election and insulation from every grievance, anger and protest of the people has made the BJP governments all the more arrogant and dictatorial. India must rise in unison to end the subversion of democracy by the Modi-Shah-Gyanesh Kumar nexus.

Red Salute to Comrade Kakara Ratna Kumari!
The untimely passing away of Comrade Kakara Ratna Kumari, former State Committee member of CPI(ML) in Andhra Pradesh, on 21 September 2026 is an irreparable loss to the Party and the people’s movements.
She hailed from Kodavali village in Gollaprolu Mandal of East Godavari, now Kakinada district, and was a member of the State Committee of the All India Progressive Women’s Association (AIPWA). Ever since she was elected to the East Godavari District Committee in 2002, she remained at the forefront of struggles against police and landlord repression.
As a National Council member of the All India Agricultural and Rural Labour Association (AIARLA), she extensively led struggles of Adivasi women, land struggles, house-site struggles, struggles for pensions, and the anti-liquor movement in Kakinada and Anakapalli districts.
She played an active role in the struggle against the Kakinada Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in 2006. During the course of the struggle, she was jailed in 2007 in false cases filed by the police. She again faced imprisonment during a house-site struggle in Kothapalli Mandal. She also led successful struggles in Jonnalagadduru and Panduru of Kakinada Mandal, for which she had to face several false cases filed by the administration.
Comrade Kakara Ratna Kumari contested the 2009 elections as the Party candidate from the Kakinada Town Assembly constituency.
CPI(ML) pays revolutionary homage to Comrade Kakara Ratna Kumari and expresses its deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy to her family members.
