NIFTY50 UNDERPERFORMING — BUT OPPORTUNITIES ARE EVERYWHERE 🚀
Today, Nifty50 came close to the 24,000 level. Nifty50 continues to underperform, which is one of the key reasons why the Smallcap 250 Index has not been able to give a decisive breakout.
Interestingly, the Smallcap 250 is not falling. It is sustaining near its all-time high despite Nifty50's weakness. This shows that there is still strong underlying strength in the small-cap segment.
Many experts were saying that AI is a bubble and that if the bubble bursts, FII money would flow into Indian markets. But NVIDIA's Q2 results have once again demonstrated very strong earnings growth, along with strong future guidance.
If FIIs can find high-growth AI companies in other markets, why would they invest in Indian IT companies where growth is largely in single digits?
US AI stocks have reached expensive valuations, which is why we are seeing profit booking in several AI stocks. But profit booking does not mean the AI story is over.
After NVIDIA's results, Indian AI- and power-related stocks have also shown strong momentum, including stocks such as Sterlite Technologies and HFCL.
The market always rewards sectors and companies where future growth potential is strong. This is why I believe the fiber-optic cable industry remains a major long-term growth story, driven by AI, data centers and rising data consumption.
Understanding the sector, future earnings growth and market cycle is far more important if your goal is long-term wealth creation.
Even in this underperforming market, many stocks are making higher highs. That means opportunities are still available — but you need to identify and capture them.
I had said at the beginning of 2026 that investors should not expect returns from large-cap stocks this year. So far, the market trend is proving that view right.
This is a stock-picker's market.
