🇮🇷🇺🇸| Chris Murphy, US Senator, says Trump intends to resume war with Iran after the elections.
He says: “While I cannot disclose any details, I can say this: the plan is insane. It will not achieve its intended goals and will instead trigger a new cycle of escalating tensions.”

The 92-year old judge who oversaw the case against Venezuela's kidnapped president, Nicolas Maduro, has died.
The NY Times describes the judge as a "deeply religious Orthodox Jew" who, as a lawyer in private practice, represented the investment bank, Cantor Fitzgerald.
At the time of the 9/11 attacks, the current U.S. Secretary of Commerce, Howard Lutnick, was the President and CEO of Cantor Fitzgerald.
The Epstein files revealed that Lutnick lied about his relationship to Jeffrey Epstein.
Although Cantor Fitzgerald lost 658 employees when the World Trade Center collapsed, Lutnick was not present in the firm's offices at the time of the attack.
...
President Bill Clinton appointed Judge Hellerstein in 1998. A deeply religious Orthodox Jew, the judge was known to hold sentencings on Fridays so he could reflect on his decisions over the Sabbath.
Judge Frederic Block of the Eastern District of New York recalled Judge Hellerstein as a “conscientious, caring” judge, who was “very much committed to referencing the Bible and philosophy of Judaism.” He considered the judge a friend.

The Defense Department reportedly is sending a Patriot missile defense system to Israel as concerns grow that American and Israeli forces are preparing for a large-scale attack on Iran following next month’s midterm elections in the U.S.
The system is being sent from Texas to bolster Israel’s defenses, The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday, citing two unidentified officials and flight tracking data.
It’s not clear how many, if any, U.S. Patriot systems already are in Israel. But there is at least one Terminal High-Altitude Area Defense, or THAAD, system in the country, deployed in October 2024.
U.S. Central Command did not answer questions Wednesday about potential movement of the Patriot system to Israel or the number of Patriot or THAAD systems already deployed there.

Veteran Israeli actress says she's 'NO LONGER PROUD TO BE ISRAELI' — then realizes she’s LIVE ON AIR and recoils in SHOCK
Chelli Goldenberg ends the interview, blames the hosts for not flagging that they were live and later returns to APOLOGIZE for her remarks
OR, as ✡️ media writes:
An unusual incident occurred Monday morning on Channel 13's morning program when actress Chelli Goldenberg expressed strong opinions about Judea and Samaria, settlers, and the situation in Israel, only to discover later that the entire conversation had been broadcast live.
The interview, conducted by Elad Zohar and Yarden Harel, was supposed to focus on Goldenberg's career and her work in the cultural sphere, but quickly developed into a heated political debate.
"We are occupiers. Yes. Everything that is happening now is the result of the occupation," Goldenberg declared during the conversation.
When Zohar asked her to explain which events she was referring to, she replied, "What isn't happening now? The increasing religious influence, the settlers, Jewish terrorism, the arrogance."
Zohar challenged her remarks, bringing up Israel's withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and the October 7 attack.
In response, Goldenberg compared the situation to the struggle against South Africa's apartheid regime and also raised the actions of Jewish underground organizations during the British Mandate.
"A minority has the right to fight for its freedom," she said.

Republican Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy is ordering an investigation into an effort to recruit candidates for the state's Senate race, including one with the same name as the incumbent Republican senator, following a New York Times report on the matter.
In a statement, Dunleavy said the report revealed new evidence of an organized effort to manipulate Alaska's elections by recruiting candidates he said were intended to confuse voters and misdirect their votes.
The Alaska Division of Elections investigated similar concerns in June, Dunleavy said, adding that the new reporting substantially supported the division's findings.
Dunleavy said he was directing the state's Department of Public Safety to investigate whether the effort violated Alaska law and whether criminal charges or civil action were warranted.
“The evidence will determine what happens next,” he said.
“Alaskans have a fundamental right to vote for the candidate they actually intend to support,” Dunleavy said. “Deliberately tricking voters into casting their ballots for someone else strikes at the integrity of our elections.”

Christine Lagarde will step down on 7 February 2027, around nine months before the end of her eight-year term, the European Central Bank announced on Thursday, hours before it kept interest rates on hold at 2.5%.
Christine Lagarde will leave her post as president of the European Central Bank (ECB) on 7 February 2027, the central bank announced on Thursday, around nine months before her eight-year term was due to end.
The news immediately kicks off a closely watched race for one of Europe's most powerful jobs at a time of economic stagnation and global turmoil. Her succession will be decided by the 21 countries that share the euro.
Christine Lagarde @Lagarde:
I have just informed my colleagues that I will step down as @ECB President on 7 February 2027. It has been a source of great pride to serve this institution. I thank all of those who have supported me on this journey over the past seven years.
Just to avoid any social media chatter: the plasters on my face are due to a small surgery earlier in the week.

🇧🇷🇺🇸🇧🇷 — Flávio Bolsonaro was received by an official American delegation and took Interstate 95, which heads toward Fort Lauderdale, Palm Beach (where Donald Trump resides), or Orlando.

Brazilian Senator Flavio Bolsonaro, who arrived in the United States on Wednesday, has declared himself the rightful leader of Brazil, alleging an electoral coup d'etat had been carried out by the country's Supreme Court and President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, who won the presidential election by over 4 million votes.
Bolsonaro, who lost Sunday's election and left Brazil for Miami, where he and his family received US visas, thanked Argentine leader Javier Milei and US President Donald Trump for helping him leave his country and for welcoming him.
Neither Lula's office, the federal electoral court nor the Supreme Court immediately responded to requests for comment.
Lula, who was himself jailed on corruption charges that were later overturned, said this week that it was "shameful" Bolsonaro had not stayed in Brazil to prove his innocence.
NO PROOF
Bolsonaro and his family arrived in Miami on Wednesday, leaving Brazil after he refused to comply with a Brazilian Supreme Court order to surrender his passports.
He left under a shroud of secrecy after the court order, which relates to a money-laundering investigation in which he denies wrongdoing.
Bolsonaro, who had been widely expected to win Sunday's election but suffered a shock defeat, did not provide evidence for the alleged electoral fraud. International observers have found Sunday's vote fair.
Bolsonaro based his rejection of the result on the fact that a Lula-appointed Supreme Court justice had extended voting by two hours on Sunday due to Lula campaign allegations of voter suppression in left-leaning northeastern states. However, Bolsonaro's campaign also sought an extension due to rains in conservative southern states.
Bolsonaro lost to Lula by around 4.5 million votes. Fewer than 35,000 votes, or some 0.03% of the total, were cast in the extra two hours of voting ordered by the Supreme Court, according to an analysis by Insper professor Pedro Burgos.

Without a deal, US and Israeli officials expect a week-long bombing campaign targeting Iran’s leadership, energy facilities, nuclear sites and infrastructure, with Iran expected to seek Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei’s approval for the proposals in the coming days:
Regional mediators led by Qatar are trying to reach a diplomatic deal to restart negotiations between the U.S. and Iran and prevent the resumption of war after the midterm elections, three U.S., Israeli and regional sources say.
The Qataris are working to convince Iran to allow UN inspectors to visit its bombed nuclear sites in return for some sanctions relief from the U.S.
A renewed bombing offensive appears likely shortly after the midterms without a last-minute deal.
IDF chief of staff Gen. Eyal Zamir spoke on Monday with CENTCOM commander Adm. Brad Cooper to coordinate ahead of potential attacks.
Such an operation is expected to include a week of massive strikes on Iranian leadership, energy, nuclear and infrastructure targets, U.S. and Israeli officials say.
President Trump told Axios in a brief interview Wednesday that negotiations with Iran are taking place through mediators but stressed that he doesn't know whether they'll bear fruit.
"We need to finish the job — either through a deal or another way — we will find out if negotiations can succeed," he said.
"While our Brave Armed Forces are fully prepared to defend the Homeland, Iran continues to give diplomacy a chance to succeed," Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on X Wednesday.

US Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. faced widespread rebuke from civil rights groups, healthcare advocates and Democrats on Tuesday over his anti-Arab comments that the Council on American-Islamic Relations cast as "a textbook display of unvarnished racism and bigotry."
In his remarks on Monday at a campaign event in Michigan where Republican Mike Rogers is running for the US Senate against Democrat Abdul El-Sayed, the US health secretary falsely claimed that Arabs had not won major international awards and "don't produce" science and literature.
"There's 500 million Arabs in the world, and yet they don't produce science, they don't win the Nobel Prize, they don't win the Fields prize, they don't win the Wolf Prize, they don't produce literature," the US health chief said.
Kennedy Jr.'s broad assertions about Arab contributions to humanity's scientific and literary discoveries at a Republican campaign event in Grand Rapids, Michigan, have drawn criticism just days before midterm elections.
The health secretary's comments -- widely condemned overnight by critics as untrue and racially biased -- were made while campaigning in a state with a large Arab American population.
.....
Arab refers to an ethnic and linguistic identification, while Muslim refers to a religious identity.
So while Arabs can be Muslim, Christian, Jewish, or of another faith, the vast majority of Muslims worldwide are not Arab.
Arabs Have Won the Nobel Prize
Egyptian law scholar Mohamed ElBaradei, a diplomat and vice-president of Egypt, won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2005 alongside the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
ElBaradei and the IAEA, which he previously chaired, were awarded for their efforts to prevent nuclear energy from being used for military purposes.
Tawakkol Karman, a Yemeni journalist, politician, and human rights activist, was a co-recipient of the 2011 Nobel Peace Prize, becoming the first Yemeni and the first Arab woman to win the award.
Ahmed Zewail, PhD, an Egyptian-American scientist, was awarded the 1999 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his work on femtochemistry.
Egyptian writer Naguib Mahfouz won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1988.
Jordanian-born Omar M. Yaghi, PhD, was one of three chemists awarded the Nobel Prize in 2025, and won the 2018 Wolf Prize in Chemistry.
Sir Michael Atiyah, PhD, of Lebanese descent, was a Fields medalist in 1966.
Yasser Arafat, the former head of the Palestine Liberation Organization, was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1994, together with former Israeli Prime Ministers Shimon Peres and Yitzhak Rabin "for their efforts to achieve peace in the Middle East." Arafat died in 2004.
Former Egyptian President Anwar al-Sadat was a co-recipient of the Nobel Prize with then-Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin in 1978 after they signed the Camp David Accords, which ended Israel's occupation of the Sinai Peninsula.
