I know what you think, I think that way too. A lot of reconstructionist efforts are goofy asf and let their understanding of the ancient religions be influenced by contemporary ideologies, individualist mindset and abrahamism as their reference for understanding religion.
However, fractured as it may be. Paganism can have a future should a solid group of people gather and revitalise what is left, paganism now shouldn't be reenactment of the iron age or the mediterranean bronze age etc.
Now to the main point, yes, paganism is a materialistic form of religion. We are however material bodies, in a material world with material needs. And very few have the karma to pursue a path that transcends religiosity that is concerned with making good material conditions, or elevating such in their view as supreme. | 484 |
