Staying Vigilant: Three Youths Detained Under the ISA for Self Radicalisation
The Internal Security Department (ISD) has issued Orders of Detention (ODs) under the Internal Security Act (ISA) against three self radicalised male Singaporean youths, separately in April, May and June 2026. Though their cases are not related, all three were self radicalised online by violent extremist ideologies and had made preparations to conduct local attacks.
One of the youths had intended to use his future National Service stint to prepare himself physically and mentally to fight for ISIS, while another had planned to carry out attacks on SAF personnel stationed at the entrance of Sembawang Airbase; he had prioritised targeting SAF personnel as he believed that he could attain greater divine rewards.
‼️This is a timely reminder of the real and present threats posed by terrorism, inclusive of that posed by self radicalised individuals.
👀While there are security measures to safeguard our camps and infrastructures, it is paramount that we maintain vigilance in order to ensure our ability to safeguard our home.
🚨At the national level and within the SAF, security systems and processes have also been put in place to screen and detect personnel who may pose as security threats.
‼️ RSAF personnel should look out for any changes in behaviour in our personnel and inform MSD through the chain of commands should there be suspicion of personnel being radicalised.

🦺 01/26 CAF Quarterly Safety Forum
🤝 More than 2,500 personnel joined this CQSF through both physical attendance and livestream, reaffirming our shared commitment to safety across the RSAF.
📌 Key Takeaways:
1️⃣ Internalise the lessons from open sharing.
Apply the lessons learnt to strengthen safety within our own units.
2️⃣ Plan ahead during transition.
Review ops tempo, resources and workload early to manage risks and keep our people safe.
3️⃣ Learn beyond our own incidents.
Use the RCT (Reflect, Contextualise, Translate) framework to turn lessons from global incidents into local action.
4️⃣ Guard against complacency.
Stay vigilant, identify latent risks early, and rely on team excellence and CRM to prevent accidents.
➡️ Refer to OSN Intranet/Safeguardian for more info.
