Streicher não era comandante militar nem executor direto de massacres. Editor do jornal antissemita Der Stürmer, ele foi condenado à morte por incitação sistemática ao ódio e à perseguição contra judeus.
“O tribunal entendeu que sua propaganda ajudou a criar o ambiente psicológico e político que tornou possíveis o Holocausto e os crimes contra a humanidade do regime nazista. Sua condenação consolidou a ideia de que a propaganda de ódio pode constituir participação criminosa em atrocidades em massa”, diz Aras.
