May every heart confess thy name, And ever Thee adore; And seeking Thee, itself inflame To seek Thee more and more. Month of the Holy Name of Jesus ~ January 12th Chapter 2 What does the Name of Jesus Mean? (continued) WHAT MUST WE DO? (continued) We must therefore do our best to form the habit of saying, “Jesus, Jesus, Jesus,” very often every day. We can do so when dressing, when working—no matter what we are doing—when walking, in moments of sadness, at home and in the street, everywhere. Nothing is easier if only we do it methodically. We can say it countless times every day. ~ Fr. Paul O’Sullivan O.P., The Wonders of the Holy Name (1946)

O Jesu! Light to all below! Thou Fount of life and fire! Surpassing all the joys we know, All that we can desire. Month of the Holy Name of Jesus ~ January 11th Chapter 2 What does the Name of Jesus Mean? (continued) WHAT MUST WE DO? St. Paul tells us that we must do all we do, whether in word or work, in the Name of Jesus. “All whatsoever you do in word or in work, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ . . . “ (Col. 3:17). In this way, every act becomes an act of love and of merit, and moreover, we receive grace and help to do all our actions perfectly and well. ~ Fr. FIRST SATURDAY of JANUARY 💙 “See my daughter, how my heart is encircled by thorns with which ungrateful men pierce me at every moment by their blasphemies and ingratitude. You, at least, try to console me, and announce that I promise to assist at the hour of death, with the graces necessary for salvation, all those who on the First Saturdays of five consecutive months, confess, receive Holy Communion, recite part of My Rosary, and keep me company for a quarter of an hour, meditating on its mysteries with the intention of offering me reparation.” ~ Words of Our Lady to Sr. Marie (Lucia dos Santos) on December 10, 1925 If possible, make First Saturday devotions today, in reparation for offenses against the Immaculate Heart of Mary, as requested by Our Lady herself in 1925, and confirmed by Our Lord in 1927.

O hope of every contrite heart, O joy of all the meek, To those who fall, how kind Thou art! How good to those who seek! Month of the Holy Name of Jesus ~ January 6th Chapter 2 What does the Name of Jesus Mean? (continued) Each time we say “Jesus,” we gain 300 days indulgence* which we may apply to the souls in Purgatory, thus relieving and liberating very many of these holy souls from their awful pains. They thus become our best friends and pray for us with incredible fervor. ~~~~~~ *Although the Church’s regulations on Indulgences, including those regarding ejaculations, have changed, perhaps we may still hope to obtain these same Indulgences from God if we ask Him for them with great confidence. ~ Fr. Paul O’Sullivan O.P., The Wonders of the Holy Name (1946)

FIRST FRIDAY of January ❤️ O Sacred Heart of Jesus, animated with a desire to repair the outrages unceasingly offered to Thee, we prostrate before Thy throne of mercy, and in the name of all mankind, pledge our love and fidelity to Thee! If possible, receive Holy Communion today and make reparation to Our Lord and Saviour for past and present offenses against His Most Sacred Heart.

Nor voice can sing, nor heart can frame, Nor can the memory find, A sweeter sound than Thy blest name, O Saviour of mankind!

Month of the Holy Name of Jesus ~ January 5th Chapter 2 What does the Name of Jesus Mean? Each time we say “Jesus,” we give God infinite joy and glory, for we offer Him all the infinite merits of the Passion and Death of Jesus Christ. St. Paul tells us that Jesus merited the Name Jesus by His Passion and Death. ~ Fr. Paul O’Sullivan O.P., The Wonders of the Holy Name (1946)

Month of the Holy Name of Jesus ~ January 3rd Chapter 2 What does the Name of Jesus Mean? The Holy Name of Jesus is, first of all, an all-powerful prayer. Our Lord Himself solemnly promises that whatever we ask the Father in His Name we shall receive. God never fails to keep His word. When, therefore, we say, “Jesus,” let us ask God for all we need with absolute confidence of being heard. For this reason, the Church ends her prayer with the words “through Jesus Christ,” which gives the prayer a new and divine efficacy. ~ Fr. Paul O’Sullivan O.P., The Wonders of the Holy Name (1946)
