On 27 July, US President Trump announced the suspension of US military strikes against Iran to facilitate ‘in-depth talks’ aimed at reopening the Strait of Hormuz and reaching a ‘comprehensive nuclear agreement’.
However, Iran refused to comply with this suspension and continued its operations against Kurdish militia positions in northern Iraq in the hours that followed. The US’s breach of the memorandum of understanding signed three weeks ago was to be met with a new attack on US positions in Jordan 🇯🇴 (Muwaffaq Salti Air Base), thereby sending a clear message to Washington that betrayals in diplomacy have serious consequences.

The battles for Chasov Yar and Kostiantynivka ended simultaneously. 🇷🇺🇺🇦
After 9 months of fighting, the city of Kostiantynivka fell under the control of Russian army. This Russian victory has, however, overshadowed another victory of equal significance. After 27 months of fighting, the town of Chasov Yar was completely captured by Russian forces.
This battle, which appeared to be drawing to a close in August 2025, dragged on for several more months, with counter-attacks and infiltrations by Ukrainian forces in the western districts.
Whilst it seemed that the capture of Chasov Yar, situated on higher ground, would allow for a swift conquest of Kostiantynivka, situated on lower ground, it was ultimately the capture of Kostiantynivka that severed the supply lines to Chasov Yar and thus led to the withdrawal of the last Ukrainian soldiers from the town over the past few days.

Печально. Воин, вся система настроена не на то, чтобы решить проблему, а чтобы погоны не потерять. Вот сам же уже пишешь про Запорожское... Хотя, казалось бы, где ваша нарисованная лбс, а где Запорожское. Ну и, конечно, несколько хохлов в лесополках - это немножко говоря неправда. Ну, а как без огласки, если внутри системы у вас там никто не рискнёт доложить наверх Правду. Приходится идти на риск, чтобы увидели и начали исправлять ситуацию.

Israel wants to turn the occupied part of Syria into a new West Bank. 🇸🇾🇮🇱
On 26 July, Israeli forces dropped leaflets on residents of the Yarmouk Valley, west of Daraa in southern Syria, urging them to stop blocking roads and hindering their operations. The leaflets also state that the forces ‘will continue to take all necessary measures to defend the State of Israel and its citizens’.
Whilst the STG remains passive, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) continue to expand their operations in Quneitra and west of Daraa, whilst there is talk of future settler settlements in that territory. Furthermore, on 27 July, Eli Cohen, a member of the Security Cabinet, outlined Israel’s plan to build further bases on Syrian territory in response to the possibility of Turkish military expansion in Syria.
