My dad used to tell me “daraxt bitta joyda ko’karadi”. Honestly, the market in Uzbekistan is so promising. Especially with all privatization efforts and outside investments flowing in, there will be more need than ever for IFRS specialists, Financial Due Diligence specialists, M&A specialists, equity researchers, investment bankers and strategy consultants - and consecutively ACCAs and CFAs. It’s no longer gonna be just a qualification to get a Big 4 position. It’ll slowly become a high paying, valued qualification.

You have a new anonymous message! Hey Suhrob, I hope you are doing well From next week, I will be starting audit internship at EY Tashkent. In what areas I should I focus more to gain more experience and knowledge? And what is your advice to be successful on my internship? Swipe to reply. First of all, great job. To stand out, always show up on time and leave together with everyone else . That’s the biggest thing in the world of auditing - the hierarchy exists. If your seniors and managers are in the office past normal business hours - and they most probably will if it’s due date for filings - stay with them. Don’t grab your bag and leave. Second, always be asking for more work. As an intern, you’ll have a lot of idle time. Make sure you don’t just sit and scroll. Come up to your seniors and managers and ask for work. Be meticulous. In Big 4, you need to be super detail-oriented. Even a small Excel formatting issue will be noticed and the review point will be left. Pay close attention to everything - details matter a lot! Be polite and communicative. Ask thoughtful questions, don’t talk unnecessarily much, and join all team building activities and happy hours (idk if they have them in Tashkent, but the US Big 4 is big on after work happy hours for auditors). Unfortunately, it’s a battle, and those with the best personalities stay and move up.

🇺🇿 Mening o’qituvchilik faoliyatim xususiy markazda (IC) boshlangan, u yerda atigi 3 ta talaba bilan, ular ham kamdan-kam kelishardi. Men buni shunchalik katta muhabbat bilan qildimki, Amerikaga jo’nab ketishimdan oldin, mening qo’l ostimda 200 dan ortiq talaba bo’lgan edi. Amerikaga kelganimdan so’ng, kampusda yarim stavkada statistika fanidan repetitorlik qildim. Keyin Knack tutoring’da ishladim. 4 yil o’tib — mana men, o’zim uchun ona bo’lmagan tilda, xilma-xil talabalar guruhiga universitetda dars beryapman. Ishtiyoq har doim kichikdan boshlanadi. Lekin agar bu haqiqiy ishtiyoq bo’lsa, u qanday qilib kattaga aylanganini payqamay ham qolasiz. Hech qachon o’z fikrlaringizni g’ayrioddiy deb hisoblamang. Hech narsa qo’l yetmas emas.

You have a new anonymous message! I want to build European career and live in Switzerland with my partner in the future that I'm not yet married to. I work at big four Tashkent now. But I should get accepted to master either in Germany or France. And I have graduated from simple government university in Tashkent this year with just 87/100 GPA, do you think I can get accepted to decent masters and build career in finance abroad? Swipe to reply. Hi! I think you would need to get a degree from the business schools in Switzerland. Switzerland is not a member for EU, so your education from one of the countries that are a member of EU wouldn’t open a pathway to practicing a profession in Switzerland. And yes, Switzerland has some of the best business schools. I personally always wanted to study there, but I can’t anymore. Your GPA isn’t the problem - you have Big 4 experience. Just couple it with a great GMAT/GRE score, and you’ll be in a great position for top ranked MBA programs such as the ones in the IMD Business School in Lausanne.

You have a new anonymous message! Is your TA position at USF going to cover your master's at Columbia, or did you find a TA position at Columbia? Yeah, USF will be paying me and making my tuition free so I could go and study in another university. That’s why I’m turning down Columbia and going to Harvard instead. I don’t even know how you made all these connections…

You have a new anonymous message! I'm down , got rejected from unis and workplaces , seems I'm not good enough I wanted to go USA for my masters degree but dunno how to make it happen, I'm losing all the hope for living First of all, please do not lose hope. Remember the stories when a spider web and the eggs laid by the pigeon saved the best human to have ever walked on Earth. Remember when there was no more exit, a sea was split for those who had righteous deeds. You can't control everything, but trying your ultimate best in whatever you can control is what is needed from you now. Pool all of your resources, make a detailed plan, and execute it step by step. I brought up the stories above because they show something we need to understand about this world: no one has it easy. No one lives free from struggles. However, there is always a point we can start at, resources we can use to start, and reasoning to differentiate between right and wrong, good and bad, and etc. Once you take care of these variables you can control, rely on your faith, and know that no matter what happens, it is always the best outcome for you. But please, don't lose hope. Even if everything is stripped away from you, hope is the only thing that remains. It is your biggest asset.

You have a new anonymous message! Admission jarayonida potensiali kam lekin shu nasibasi bo'lib kirgan o'quvchilaram bo'lganmi 🙏🏻😭 Bo’lgan va bo’ladi ham, chunki chetdan sizni baxolagan odam uchun sizni o’zingizga ko’rinmagan kuchli tomonlaringiz bo’lishi mumkin. Shu paytgacha, kutilmagan natijalar xar yili bo’lgan. Lekin Eng asosiysi “potentialim kam” deb o’ylamaslik

💬 You have a new anonymous message! Assalamu Alaykum, Sukhrob aka Is the reason for doing masters due to stem designation and potential up to 3 years of OPT after graduation. Or do Big 4 companies sponsor H1B easily when they hire? Overall, how this post-bachelors and employment process went given you are international and need residency permit? Can you share your experience on these points if not secret. Thank you! Great question! Yes, the MSAA (Master of Science and Accountancy) programs in most schools across the US are now STEM designated, which potentially can me an extension for OPT from a year to three years. And yes, Deloitte sponsors international students for H1B. Two of my close friends from there are international students, and Deloitte’s Law Team is already taking them through the process.
