When Jaxen pulls the study's own language on its primary efficacy measure, the conclusion is unsurprising: "the magnitude of change in neutralizing titers was small, suggesting that the neutralizing potency at these dose levels may not be sufficient for broad protection."
Seven of the listed researchers on the study are either employees or shareholders of the company behind the vaccine. That conflict of interest sits at the foundation of a media cycle that produced headlines like "AI-designed vaccine halts future virus mutations" and "could prevent pandemics and save millions of lives."
One outlet got it right: a UAE publication ran the headline "Human trials of AI-designed vaccine yield limited immune response."
