Do We Need A Guru?
What you call as spirituality in English is not the real thing. Spirituality, as most people know it - ghosts, spirits, magical beings, disembodied beings, fancy stuff in the air that's what people take as spirituality.
The real thing is self-knowledge. Self-knowledge is a movement - movement from ignorance to realization. How does one move to realization? By making good use of stuff in the world.
So, does one need a guru? No. Your very movement from ignorance towards realization is the guru. The very urge to not be an ignorant is the teacher. And when that urge is there, then you will keep finding suitable teachers at all places, everywhere, at all times.

शिक्षक, जो कि शरीर को नहीं, मन को सूचनाओं से भरता है। Knowledge provider, KP। स्कूलों में history, geography, Sanskrit, Science, Maths, यही पढ़ाते हैं। जो आपके मन को दुनिया भर की सूचना दे दे।
गुरु बिलकुल एक अलग आयाम होता है। इसका काम object से नहीं संबंधित होता, इसका काम subject से संबंधित होता है। सामान्य ज्ञान, General Knowledge, नक्शा (maps) दे, वो शिक्षक है, गुरु नहीं।
गुरु वो है जो mirror दे। Map में आप खुद को नहीं देखते; map में आप कहते हो, 'मैं जैसा हूँ सो हूँ, मुझे इसपे जाके यहाँ पहुँच जाना है।' Mirror में आप खुद को देखते हो और आपकी मंज़िलें और रास्ते सब बदल जाते हैं, क्योंकि आप वो हो ही नहीं जो अपने आप को सोच रहे हैं। तो ना पुरानी मंज़िल बचेगी, ना रास्ता बचेगा, ना लक्ष्य, ना कामना।
जो आपको आईना दिखाए कि 'खुद को देखो', वो धर्म है। जो आईना दिखाए, फिर कह सकते हो, गुरु है। | 282 |
| 3 |  Who is Krishna?
Krishna is not a person. Krishna is not some fellow talking to another living being called Arjun. Krishna is a metaphor, a symbol... Truth itself. Krishna is another name for freedom.
To see Krishna is to rebel against stupidity. Krishna is a friend in real terms.

| 4 |  हमने गीता समझी ही नहीं। हम सोचते हैं बाहर से कोई आकर हमारी रक्षा करेगा, कोई नहीं आने वाला।
जब आपको दिख जाएगा कि अधर्म बहुत बढ़ गया है, जब आपको समझ आएगा आप कितना गलत जीवन जी रहे हो, तब आपका समर्पण कृष्ण को आमंत्रण बन जाएगा।
जिस दिन आप एक सही लड़ाई चुन लोगे, आप पाओगे कृष्ण आपके सारथी बन गए हैं। तो कृष्ण का आना या न आना आप पर निर्भर करता है।
कृष्ण कहीं बाहर से नहीं, भीतर से आएँगे। आपका बोध जग गया तो कृष्ण प्रकट हो गए।

| 6 |  कृष्ण कौन हैं?
गीता को ही अगर तुम समझो, तो कृष्ण कहते हैं:
'मैं ऊँचों में सबसे ऊँचा, मैं गहरों में सबसे गहरा, मैं अनन्त से अनन्ततर, मैं सुंदर से सुंदरतर, मैं वीरों में परमवीर, पहाड़ों में हिमालय, सागरों में प्रशांत महासागर, तारों में ध्रुव तारा।'
तो एक परम विराट का नाम है कृष्ण।
कृष्ण माने, जो कुछ भी तुम सोच सकते हो, उसकी सीमा और सीमा से भी पार जो है, वो कृष्ण हुआ।
'हर बोधवान चेतना का चेहरा, हर प्रबुद्ध चेहरा मेरा ही चेहरा है, अर्जुन।'
हर वो व्यक्ति कृष्ण है जो बोध में जी रहा है।

| 7 |  इस जन्माष्टमी कृष्ण की ओर नहीं, अपनी ओर देखें...
क्योंकि कृष्ण के नाम पर आप कृष्ण की छवियों को ही देखेंगे और छवियाँ किसने बनाई? आपने।
कृष्ण की छवियाँ ही देखेंगे तो अपने आपको देखने से फिर चूक जाएँगे।
तो बड़ी गड़बड़ हो जाएगी। एक अच्छा अवसर फिर चूक जाएगा।
आप वही सब कुछ करते जाएँगे जो आप साल भर करते आए हैं।
आप नए कपड़े धारण कर लेंगे, जन्माष्टमी का उत्सव मना लेंगे, पर कुछ बदलेगा नहीं।
इस जन्माष्टमी संकल्प लो:
"मैं जैसे साल भर जीता आ रहा हूँ, अब वैसे नहीं जीऊँगा।"
यही कृष्णत्व है।

| 9 |  श्रीकृष्ण तो परमात्मा थे न, तो फिर यह सब लड़ाई वगैरह हो गई थी तो बचा क्यों नहीं पाए?
इस बात को लेकर मुझसे कुछ नहीं तो 50 बार सवाल पूछा जा चुका है कि वो तो परमात्मा थे न, तो फिर यह सब लड़ाई वगैरह हो गई थी तो बचा क्यों नहीं पाए?
'अवतार' थे, अवतार। तुम यह नहीं देखते कि तुम कैसे हो। तुम 50 तरीके के आदर्श संतों, मनीषियों और अवतारों पर थोप देना चाहते हो। और जानते हो तुम्हारी मंशा क्या है? तुम्हारी मंशा यह है कि बस ज़ाहिर हो जाए कि संतों ने भी गलतियाँ की हैं, अवतारों से भी चूक होती है और अगर उनसे चूक होती है, उन्होंने गलतियाँ की हैं, तो फिर हमें तो गलतियाँ करने का हक मिल गया ना!
निराकार जब साकार होता है, तो साकार सदा सीमित ही होगा। तुम्हारी सहायता करने के लिए निराकार को साकार होना पड़ेगा।

He is a man in flesh and blood, trying to do good, trying, failing, succeeding, but never someone who looks imposing.
Gita cannot impose itself on you, just as Shri Krishna never imposes himself on Arjun.
But yes, the words are deep and beautiful. One could say deeper than anything one is ever likely to come across, and as beautiful as anything one can potentially ever see.
So they hold potential. Whether or not that potential will succeed on you is your choice.

| 13 |  स्वयं कृष्ण खड़े थे पांडवों की ओर और युद्ध शुरू होने से पहले ही पांडव हार ही गए थे।
अर्जुन ही भाग गए थे। सच की कोई जीत होने वाली थी?
सच नहीं, संकल्प जीतता है, बुरी हार भी हो जाए तो ऐसे खड़े रहिए जैसे कुछ बिगड़ा ही नहीं।
मजबूरी नहीं आनी चाहिए चेहरे पर, किसी हाल में नहीं आनी चाहिए।
कौन हमारी सुन रहा है, कौन नहीं, यह काफी हद तक संयोग पर निर्भर करता है।
उससे हमारा तेज कम नहीं हो जाना चाहिए। हम सही काम कर रहे हैं। सच बाप है हमारा।
वो जैसे होते हैं, ये आवारा लड़के, “तुझे पता है न मेरा बाप कौन है?”
ऐसे ही हो जाइए, सच की उद्दंड औलाद। | 375 |
| 14 |  कृष्ण वो देह नहीं हैं जो मोर-पंख धारण करती है, जो मुरली धारण करती है।
गीता में स्वयं श्रीकृष्ण अपनी पहचान उजागर कर देते हैं, “मैं वो देह नहीं हूँ अर्जुन, जो तुम देख रहे हो अभी।”
चेहरे तो सब प्रकृति पर आश्रित होते हैं। आज मैं एक चेहरा लिये हुए हूँ, ये प्रकृति की देन है, कल मैं दूसरा चेहरा ले लूँगा।
“मैं बोधमात्र हूँ, मैं सत्य मात्र हूँ।” हर बोधवान चेतना का चेहरा, मेरा ही चेहरा है।
हर वो व्यक्ति कृष्ण है जो बोध में जी रहा है।
ये कृष्ण की पहचान है, न देह, न रूप, न नाम, न काल, न गुण, बोध मात्र।

| 17 |  Ultimate Teacher : Krishna
The situation of Krishna reflects the situation of every real teacher. Krishna is facing a real-life challenge. Arjun has to be convinced and converted in real time, right now. Do it right now.
Krishna is such a glorious example. The real guru is real because he has to deal with not merely uninterested but actually sometimes undeserving students.
You have to pull up the one lying in dirt and make him fight the highest battle. You don't merely have to polish and shine an already existing ornament in gold.
The task of the teacher is to take an ordinary piece of metal, iron or zinc or nickel, copper, and turn it into gold. That's the difference between a guru and a groomer.
To take an old gold ornament and shine it is called grooming. That's not the task of a guru.
A guru is like Krishna. Take iron and turn it to gold. That's what is happening on the battlefield. All inspiring, poignant, breathtaking, real.

| 18 | How can we get closer to Shri Krishna this Janmashtami? | 370 |
| 19 | It’s Janmashtami. Where do we begin?
What should we begin? Something is begun only when it has never existed before, or when it has come to a halt. Krishna never begins. He has always been here, not merely every day, but every moment.
We are celebrating the birthday of the Unborn, the Uncreated. The One who has neither birth nor death—how can we assign a single day to Him?
There is, however, a beautiful way to do this: let this one day remind us that all days belong to Him. Janmashtami is a day to take a vow: to remember the Truth, as much as possible, every single day.
To speak of Shri Krishna without speaking of the Gita is impossible. Krishna’s entire teaching emerges from the battlefield. It is against the backdrop of war that the Gita roars.
