BOOM! 💥 This is extremely significant. Meta and other tech companies are going to be “forced” to run their operations from Australia in order to be able to held accountable for “harmful” content. Basically, they can’t run out of the US because the country has the First Amendment and can’t have the same demands imposed as Australia imposes, so they move their operations to a country that “forces” them to comply with extreme laws. Clearly the option is to just not do business with Australia, but that’s not the point. They’re purposely moving to the country with the most restrictive speech laws incoming. Also, this is not something a conglomerate like Meta does lightly. It also means it was planned long ago. This also means Australia is about to see extremely draconian speech laws, folks.
