Live for Allah Living for the sake of Allah requires you to align every intention and action solely with seeking Allah’s pleasure. Your goal in every movement, moment of stillness, interaction, silence, and speech is to please your Lord. It is, however, a demanding path: full of hardship, struggle, and immense striving. Those who live for Allah bear difficulties that others, whose hearts are void of this profound and noble meaning, could never endure. Could Nūḥ (ʿalayhis-salām) have endured mockery, humiliation, and the burdens of daʿwah for 950 years if he had not lived those years with Allah and for Allah? Could Yūsuf (ʿalayhis-salām) have patiently borne imprisonment, had he not been a man whose life was lived with Allah? Could Ibrāhīm (ʿalayhis-salām) have faced his people and remained steadfast against their harm and oppression without that connection? Could Ayyūb (ʿalayhis-salām) have patiently endured years of severe illness, pain, and hardship without finding intimate companionship with his Lord during those trials? All of them realised that just as all matters belong to Allah, so too must one’s entire life be lived for Him. It is this spiritual reservoir and storehouse of īmān (faith) that made it easy for those who lived for Allah to embrace death in His cause without hesitation.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

“Whoever is able to die in Madīnah, let him die there, for I will be a witness for him on the Day of Resurrection.” (Tirmidhī)

As you stand before ʿUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb (raḍiy Allāhu ʿanhu), remember the man through whom Allah strengthened Islām and honoured this Ummah. Strong in faith. Uncompromising in justice. Fearless in standing for the truth. The duʿāʾ of the Prophet ﷺ.

“O Allah, strengthen Islām with the dearest of these two men to You: ʿUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb or ʿAmr b. Hishām.”

Abū Sulaymān al-Dārānī raḥimahullāh said,

“Whoever wants to ask Allah for his needs, let him start by sending ṣalawāt upon the Prophet ﷺ then ask for what he needs, and then end his duʿā’ with ṣalawāt (again) upon the Prophet ﷺ. For sending ṣalawāt upon the Prophet ﷺ will be accepted, and Allah is too generous to refuse (the duʿā’ made) between the two ṣalawāt.’

As you stand before the grave of Abū Bakr al-Ṣiddīq (raḍiy Allāhu ʿanhu), feel honoured to be standing in front of the man who gave everything for the sake of Allah and His Messenger ﷺ. Of all the Companions, none was closer to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ than Abū Bakr al-Ṣiddīq (raḍiy Allāhu ʿanhu). No Messenger was ever granted a companion like Abū Bakr (raḍiy Allāhu ʿanhu). His closest friend. His companion in the Cave. The first adult male to embrace Islam. Ismail Patel, chair of Friends of Al-Aqsa, warns that the United States and Israel are working to strip Jordan of its historic custodianship of Al-Aqsa Mosque and replace the Islamic Waqf with an Israeli controlled body. He says the plan would turn Al-Aqsa into a so-called “multi-faith centre”, with Israel appointing imams, controlling Friday sermons and repackaging the mosque as a tourist attraction. Patel argues this is not coexistence, but “conquest under the language of coexistence”.

اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَّعَلَىٰ اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ ، كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَىٰ إِبْرَاهِيْمَ وَعَلَىٰ اٰلِ إِبْرَاهِيْمَ ، إِنَّكَ حَمِيْدٌ مَّجِيْدٌ ، اَللّٰهُمَّ بَارِكْ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَّعَلَىٰ اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ ، كَمَا بَارَكْتَ عَلَىٰ إِبْرَاهِيْمَ وَعَلَىٰ اٰلِ إِبْرَاهِيْمَ ، إِنَّكَ حَمِيْدٌ مَّجِيْدٌ

You are about to stand before the grave of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. As you stand before him ﷺ, fill your heart with love, gratitude and reverence. Send abundant ṣalāh and salām upon him and reflect on the immense sacrifices he made for us, which we can never repay. Today, the sanctity of this moment is routinely violated by photographs, video calls, distractions and innovations, whilst the heart remains absent from the profound significance of standing before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Surah al-Baqarah: A Shield From Shaytan and a Source of Blessing The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

“Do not turn your houses into graveyards. Shayṭān runs away from the house in which Sūrah al-Baqarah is recited.” (Muslim)

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

“Recite the Qurʾān, for it will come on the Day of Resurrection as an intercessor for its reciters. Recite the two shining sūrahs (al-Zahrāwān), al-Baqarah and Āl ʿImrān, for they will come on the Day of Resurrection as two clouds, or two shades, or two flocks of birds in rows, defending their reciters. Recite Sūrah al-Baqarah, for taking it brings blessing, abandoning it brings regret, and it cannot be overcome by magicians.” (Muslim)
