A client once added it up with us: $700 on skincare in a year, mostly viral finds. Her skin was worse than when she started 😔 We rebuilt her routine for under $150 a year. Better skin in three months. What we told her about where money matters: spend on your sunscreen (you wear it daily, forever) and your one targeted active. Save on cleanser (it's on your face for 30 seconds) and basic moisturizer 💡 Expensive isn't a strategy. Knowing what your skin needs is 💸✨

"Is the $15 dupe as good as the $80 original?" Sometimes genuinely yes. Here's how to tell 🕵️‍♀️ A dupe can match when the formula is simple: same active, similar concentration, similar supporting cast. Basic hydrators and cleansers dupe beautifully 👌 Where dupes quietly fail: delivery systems. Some actives (retinoids, vitamin C) depend on HOW they're stabilised and released, not just that they're present. That engineering is often what you're paying for. Read the ingredient list, not the hype video. The label tells you if it's a twin or just a lookalike ✨

Curious tonight 🛍️ Where does most of your skincare actually come from?
254
5
Answer: 1 to 3 times a week for most skin 🎯 Daily is how barriers quietly break. Signs you've overdone it: everything suddenly stings, skin looks shiny-tight (not glowy), flaking INCREASES, and breakouts appear in new places 😬 If that's you, pause all exfoliation for two weeks. Gentle cleanser, moisturizer, sunscreen only. Your barrier will thank you 🙏 This week: smart shopping. Where your money matters, and where it honestly doesn't 💸

Recap quiz 💤 How often should most skin types actually exfoliate? 🤔 (Answer tomorrow at 8am ☀️)

Sunday reminder 🤍 Skin progress is measured in months, but skin worry happens daily. That's an unfair fight for your patience. So borrow our studio habit: judge your skin monthly, care for it daily 📅 One glance back at last month's photo says more than an hour at today's mirror. Small consistent things, quietly compounding. That's the whole secret 🌱✨

The most honest review we've ever received 🥹 Kai Xuan almost quit at month three. Her skin broke out mid-programme, nothing
The most honest review we've ever received 🥹 Kai Xuan almost quit at month three. Her skin broke out mid-programme, nothing seemed to work, and she was devastated. She stayed. By the end, her acne resolved and her marks lightened. Her takeaway: "this programme is not a miracle, it takes time, effort and trust" 🤍 We share this because it's the truth about skin journeys. Never a straight line. Worth every step 🌱

Answer: closed comedones 🎯 (If you got it right, yesterday's 8am post gets the credit 😌) The recap for anyone who missed it: they're pores sealed over with buildup. Scrubbing irritates them, picking scars them, and patience plus gentle chemical exfoliation clears them. Think dissolve, not demolish 🧪 And if a bump is red, painful or growing? Different animal, different post. That one's a proper breakout ✨

Tonight's quiz 💤 Those tiny forehead bumps that never become pimples are usually... 🤔 (Answer tomorrow at 8am ☀️)
323

A client kept pointing at her forehead in our studio: dozens of tiny bumps, same skin tone, never turning into proper pimples, never going away 😩 "I exfoliate every day and they won't budge." What we told her: those are closed comedones, pores sealed over with buildup. And daily scrubbing was irritating them into staying 🙈 The counterintuitive fix: LESS scrubbing, more patience, and a gentle chemical exfoliant a few nights a week to dissolve what's stuck. Eight weeks later, her forehead caught the light smoothly again ✨

Rae's journey, in her own screenshots 🤍 Day 0: a broken barrier on her cheeks, pigmentation from old breakouts, forehead run
Rae's journey, in her own screenshots 🤍 Day 0: a broken barrier on her cheeks, pigmentation from old breakouts, forehead running three shades darker than her cheeks 😔 Two years later: sitting in our studio hearing "there's a chance you might not even need your daily foundation anymore" 🥹 This is what barrier repair actually looks like. Not weeks. Not a miracle product. Patient understanding, compounding quietly ✨ Your skin can get there too 👉 bit.ly/4bQeiwO

Answer: false for most people 🎉 Most "sensitive skin" we see is actually sensitised: worn down by the routine, not written in the genes. And what was made can be unmade 🌱 The recovery playbook: strip back to gentle basics, pause all actives, moisturise like it's your job, sunscreen daily. Give it 4 to 6 weeks of consistent boring 😌 The skin that "reacted to everything" usually just needed everything to stop for a while 🤍

Quiz before bed 💤 True or false: sensitive skin is something you're stuck with for life 🤔 (Answer tomorrow at 8am ☀️)
328
16
"I have sensitive skin" might be the most common thing we hear. Here's the useful distinction 💡 Truly sensitive skin is born, not made: reactive from young, often alongside conditions like eczema. It's the minority. Sensitised skin is MADE: over-exfoliation, harsh products, too many actives too fast. It looks and feels identical, stinging, flushing, reacting to everything 😖 Why it matters: sensitised skin can recover. More on that tomorrow, including the poll answer 👀

Answer: dehydrated skin 💧 And here's the client who proved it. She came to us shiny by 11am but flaking around the nose, convinced she had "combination skin gone wrong" 😩 Her skin wasn't confused. It was thirsty. Dehydrated skin pumps out extra oil to protect itself, so she was oily BECAUSE she was dehydrated, not despite it. What we told her: hydrating layers first, lightweight seal on top, and ease off the stripping cleanser. Two weeks later the shine calmed AND the flakes went 🎉 One fix, both problems ✨

Tonight's quiz 💤 Oily AND flaky at the same time usually means... 🤔 (Answer tomorrow at 8am ☀️)
383
20
These two get confused constantly, and the fix is different for each 💡 Dry skin is a TYPE: it under-produces oil. It needs richer creams and oils to supplement 🧴 Dehydrated skin is a STATE: it lacks water, and any skin type can have it, even oily. It needs humectants to draw water in and a moisturizer to seal it 💧 Quick self-check: pinch your cheek gently. Slow bounce-back, tightness and dullness point to dehydration. Flaking with no shine anywhere points to dry 👀 Tomorrow: the client who was "oily but thirsty" at the same time ✨
