📍 Bagh Cave Paintings — Madhya Pradesh
🟢 Located on the southern slope of the Vindhyan Range, on the banks of the Baghani River.
🟢 9 rock-cut Buddhist caves were excavated in sandstone during the Satavahana period.
🟢 Famous for mural paintings depicting Jataka tales.
🟢 Murals feature earthy red, yellow and green tones, reflecting ancient Buddhist artistic traditions.
🟢 Originally 9 caves; 5 survive, all functioning as viharas with quadrangular plans.
🟢 Cave 4 — Rang Mahal (“Palace of Colors”) is the most important surviving cave.
🟢 Cave 2 — Pandava Cave is the best-preserved monastery.
🟢 Tempera technique was used for paintings on walls and ceilings.
📍 Group of Temples — Chambal Valley
