I had the incredible honor of hosting Dr. Adeeb Khalid, a distinguished historian and scholar whose extensive work significantly shaped our understanding of modern Central Asia. Dr. Khalid held a BA from the University of Punjab, Lahore, a BA from McGill University, and an MA and PhD from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Since 1993, he had been a professor at Carleton College. Dr. Khalid's research delved deep into the history of Central Asia, focusing on the region's cultural and identity transformations from the Russian conquest of the 1860s to the present day. His work intricately explored the intersection of the Muslim and Russian/Soviet worlds, with a particular emphasis on the fate of Islam under Tsarist and Soviet rule. His interests spanned culture and cultural change, empire and colonialism, and nationhood in its various forms. Over the years, Dr. Khalid was the recipient of numerous prestigious grants from foundations such as the Guggenheim Foundation, the Carnegie Corporation, and the National Endowment for the Humanities, among others. He also held esteemed visiting research positions at the Maison des Sciences de l’Homme in Paris and the Kluge Center for Scholars at the Library of Congress in Washington, DC. Dr. Khalid was the author of four influential books: "The Politics of Muslim Cultural Reform: Jadidism in Central Asia," "Islam after Communism: Religion and Politics in Central Asia," "Making Uzbekistan: Nation, Revolution, and Empire in the Early USSR," and "Central Asia: A New History from the Imperial Conquests to the Present." His latest book offered an integrated narrative of both the "Russian" and "Chinese" parts of Central Asia and had been translated into multiple languages, reflecting its global impact. Among his many accolades, "Islam after Communism" won the 2008 Wayne S. Vucinich Book Prize, and "Making Uzbekistan" received the Reginald Zelnik Book Prize in History in 2016. These awards highlighted the profound contributions Dr. Khalid made to the fields of Russian, Eurasian, and East European studies. Bu moda nafaqat rivojlanayotgan va davlat oʻrni katta boʻlgan mamlakatlarda, balki rivojlangan va bozor iqtisodiyotiga oʻtgan mamlakatlarda ham kuzatilmoqda. Oxirgi bir yilda, AQSh administratsiyasi bir nechta ustuvor yoʻnalishlarda aktiv sanoat siyosatiga qoʻl urushni boshladi, boshqa gʻarbiy Yevropa mamlakatlarida ham siyosatchilar shunday gʻoyalar haqida gapirishmoqda. Bu epizodda biz sanoat siyosatini davlat tomonidan yuritilishini afzallik va kamchiliklari, tarixi, siyosati va hozirgi kundagi qoʻllanilishi haqida gaplashdik. https://www.stitcher.com/show/uzbekon...Atom elektr stansiyasi haqidagi diskussiyada, menimcha, sal koʻproq mulohaza qilishimiz darkor. Tabiiyki, Oʻzbekistonga elektr energiyasi kerak, energetika qancha arzon va koʻp boʻlsa, farovonlik va rivojlanish uchun shuncha yaxshi. Lekin bizda muammo elektr va energetika sohasini islohot qilmaganimizda yoki qandaydir stansiya mavjudligida emas. Hozirgi holatda ham, hech qanday AESsiz ham elektrni import qila olamiz, yoki uni ishlab chiqarish uchun yoqilgʻini import qila olamiz, uning ustiga ancha normal narxlarda quyosh energiyasini ishlab chiqaradigan korxonalarni jalb qila olamiz. Demak “svet yoʻqligi” muammosi sunʼiy yaratilgan, notoʻgʻri boshqaruv va xato qurilyan elektr energiya siyosatining mevasi. AES qurilishi hal qilib beradigan bir texnologik muammo emas. Atom energiyasiga kelsak — bu qaror birinchi oʻrinda iqtisodiy maqsadga muvofiqmi-muvofiq emasmi bilib olishimiz kerak. Masalan, uni qurish uchun necha pul hukumatimiz beradi? Boshqa moliyaviy manbalar, jumladan davlat qarzi hisobidan moliyalashtiriladimi…
