How I feel all the way here in America when crossfitters in the UAE tell me I need the permission of their "Wali al-Amr" to boycott the Maghdub 'Alayhim.

Returning to this...one of the well-known Madkhalis online said you need the permission of the ruler to boycott the Maghdub 'Alayhim State. Never mind that this is baseless on several legal grounds, what is perplexing is how this low IQ "fiqh" is addressed to English speaking Muslims in the west who owe no allegiance or obedience to any tin pot petty dictator in a Muslim land. Why spend so much time and effort preaching to Muslims in the west that they need permission from the "Wali al-Amr" to boycott. Whose permission should we seek? Should we fly all the way to the UAE to get the green light to stop buying certain products? 🤡

I never understood why they pressure us Muslims living in the west to treat the rulers in Muslim countries as if we've given bay'a to each and every one of them and we are dutibound to obey them. How exactly is MBS or whoever our Wali al-Amr?

Even in polytheism, there was a degree of fairness in the personality of Abu Sufyan (and Umar ibn 'l-Khattab years before him) that simply was not present in individuals like Abu Jahl, Walid ibn 'l-Mughirah, Abu Lahab, etc. This can be confirmed by multiple instances, not least his conversation with the Byzantine Emperor Heraclius regarding the Prophet.
This perhaps explains why out of all the prominent leaders of the Quraysh, Abu Sufyan was allowed to live long enough to accept Islam.
Fair play and justice are universals that are not the exclusive domain of the Muslims. Two verses that are worth pointing out in this regard:
Say, 'I do not ask you for this message any payment - only goodwill through kinship.' (Al-Shura)
And Moses said, 'Our Lord, You have given Pharaoh and his party splendour and wealth in the worldly life, so that they may lead astray from Your way, our Lord. Our Lord, obliterate their wealth and harden their hearts so that they will not believe until they see the painful punishment.' (Yunus)
The first is for the Prophet to instruct the Quraysh to remind them he is after all part of their family, so that they treat him with the required level of kinship he deserved from them, regardless of whether they accepted Islam or not.
The second is a supplication by Musa against the Pharaoh, after years of vicious persecution meted out by him against the Jews. It wasn't just disbelief that caused Musa to make such a damning supplication.
People are predisposed to humanitarian ideals and justice. Then there are those who have corrupted themselves so much that none of this registers with them. For them, there is a special place in Hell. Then you have Bill Maher.
