The first is Matthew Gruter, and if you watch or read the news in Australia you probably know who he is - deported from Australia for taking part in a peaceful protest where he broke no laws, raided at 4am, locked in immigration detention, denied a bridging visa, and ambushed by the media on arrival in South Africa. The second you have almost definitely never heard of, but he was also deported to South Africa from Australia. Robin Gerald Dyers violently raped a 22-year-old woman and a 16-year-old girl in Perth and indecently assaulted another woman, showed no remorse, and spent nine years in jail. There were a couple of articles about his deportation, but no journalists were waiting for him when he landed in Johannesburg a couple of years ago. No photographers were sent to take photos of his family, or confront them about his crimes. Because unlike in Gruter's case the authorities didn't feel the need to persecute Dyers, so they didn't leak his flight info to useless idiot journalists.
