Iman and Debates A person's faith [Imaan] will never be strengthened or an intense connection to Allah created by academic discussions. A person may have an iman rush or a sensation of dominance at best. Debates are prone to incite animosity towards both the living and the dead, fill the heart with ujub [conceit], and entice someone to defend their stance even if they are aware that it may be incorrect. In addition, it makes the audience less humble and more hostile towards other people. Maintaining Islamic stability and values necessitates an emotional bond. When life throws you an unexpected setback, this is the flavour of Iman that protects you. "The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'Whoever gives up telling lies in support of a false claim, a palace will be built for him in the outskirts of Paradise. Whoever gives up argument when he is in the right, a palace will be built from him in the middle (of Paradise). And whoever had good behavior, a palace will be built for him in the highest reaches (of Paradise).'" [Ibn Majah] May Allah forgive us and make us Follow in the Sunnah of our Prophet ﷺ
