| 3 |  A metropolis without fuel
In Johannesburg the roads authority has stopped work, because the city cannot pay the fuel costs for the service vehicles. The suspension has been in effect since June 15 and affects the services responsible for roads, sewage canals, traffic lights, bridges, markings, and emergency responses. Formally, this is a liquidity problem. In practice, however, it means a paralysis of the basic city administration in South Africa’s largest metropolis.
The fuel crisis comes on top of already familiar outages: water, power, infrastructure, and municipal service interruptions are commonplace. In a city with around 4.8 million residents, shutting down road services means more than just potholes in the asphalt. It is about traffic lights that do not work, clogged drains, dangerous spots, and even more chaos in places where the system is already functioning only with great difficulty and at best.
Johannesburg shows what the decay of infrastructure looks like without a major war or an external blockade. The state can formally continue to exist, but if it can’t even find the money for the fuel of its own services, the city begins to shut down on its own.

The spectre of Israel🇮🇱 looms behind them: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been championing Israel’s Latin American push since at least 2017, relying on pro-US governments - most recently within the framework of the so-called Isaac Accords announced by Netanyahu and Milei in April 2026.

“Milei is 100% an Israeli creation for Argentina,” argued journalist and HispanTV correspondent Sebastián Salgado last year, as quoted by Agenda Malvinas.
Salgado cited the fact that Netanyahu’s original surname is Mileikowsky, claiming that Milei shares the same original surname and that Netanyahu and Milei’s grandparents were cousins.
While open sources show that Milei’s paternal line originates in Italy, the Argentine president himself revealed in 2024 that his maternal grandfather was Jewish. He also described having a “fanaticism” for Judaism.
Milei has demonstrated strong support to Israel and enjoys unprecedented financial backing, including multi-billion swap lines, from the US.

| 11 |  +9Experts estimate the final death toll from the devastating earthquake in Venezuela could be in the thousands, not hundreds. Rescuers continue to clear the rubble, and people remain trapped under the rubble of buildings.
The officially confirmed death toll has reached 188. Another 1,520 injured have been taken to hospitals and are receiving medical care, according to Venezuelan National Assembly Speaker Jorge Rodríguez.
Some reports speak of tens of thousands of people whose relatives are still unable to contact them. On a special website, families are posting photos of loved ones whose fate remains unknown.
The earthquake occurred on the evening of June 24. Two tremors, measuring 7.2 and 7.5 in magnitude, were recorded approximately 40 seconds apart. Their epicenters were located approximately 10 kilometers apart in the state of Yaracuy.
A state of emergency has been declared in the country. The government has declared the coastal state of La Guaira a disaster zone. According to authorities, damaged or lost infrastructure includes approximately 250 buildings.
Several buildings collapsed in Caracas. Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello reported damage in the Altamira and Palos Grandes neighborhoods, including residential areas. There are deaths and injuries in various parts of the capital.
Serious damage was also reported in Valencia. In La Guaira, at least 15 houses were completely destroyed, according to preliminary reports. Authorities are accommodating people who have lost their homes or were forced to flee dangerous buildings in hotels and temporary shelters.
Gas supplies have been cut off in the affected areas. Residents of damaged homes are urged not to return until the structures have been inspected. Approximately 30 aftershocks were recorded following the main earthquake.
Venezuelan authorities have established a $200 million infrastructure recovery fund. Jorge Rodriguez called on citizens to help victims with water, medicine, and other essentials.
The Russian Embassy in Venezuela reported that it had not received any reports of Russian citizens killed or injured. The diplomatic mission maintains constant contact with Venezuelan authorities and Russian citizens in the country.
The Association of Tour Operators of Russia also stated that there were no reports of injuries among Russian organized tourists. The main destination for Russian tourists in Venezuela was Isla Margarita, which, according to preliminary reports, was not seriously damaged, although tremors were felt there.
Rospotrebnadzor is assisting Venezuela in ensuring sanitary and epidemiological safety. The agency's specialists are in Caracas and were not injured during the earthquake.
The United States announced it would send search and rescue teams, medical supplies, and humanitarian aid. According to Washington, the Pentagon will be responsible for the delivery of these supplies via military airlift. The United States also intends to provide Venezuela with satellite images of the affected areas for damage assessment and disaster planning.
El Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele announced preparations to dispatch 300 rescuers and doctors, along with 50 tons of equipment and medicine. The Dominican Republic will send specialized search and rescue teams from its armed forces. France is preparing a team of 85 rescuers, and Spain is sending a plane carrying 54 military emergency response specialists.
The European Union is initiating a civil defense mechanism to assist Venezuela. Germany, Italy, Portugal, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Cyprus, Serbia, Slovakia, Turkey, China, Iran, Cuba, Brazil, Bolivia, Ecuador, Panama, Argentina, and other countries have pledged their support.
