Dunstable Road, #Luton. Man jailed after attacking two police officers with noxious spray causing temporary blindness and breathing difficulties. An attacker sprayed two police officers when they were called to reports of a domestic assault. 31-year-old Ionut Spanache (Romanian) opened the door and assaulted the officers with a PAVA-like spray, a synthetic pepper spray substitute, causing them to run from the property. He was sentenced at Luton Crown Court on July 17 to two years’ imprisonment.

Former teacher Jamie Varley, 37, and his partner John McGowan-Fazakerley, 32, rushed the toddler to hospital in cardiac arrest, claiming he had drowned in the bathtub. A post-mortem examination revealed around 40 injuries, including fractures, extensive bruising, a human bite mark, and signs of sexual abuse. Prosecutors say the child actually died from smothering. Police later found photos and videos of the alleged abuse on the men’s phones. Both defendants deny all charges. The trial is ongoing at Preston Crown Court.
