CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas According to the Corpus Christi PD, crews are working a gas line explosion at a nearby refinery at Up River Rd & McBride Ln. Multiple lanes of traffic have been shut down. "It was a gas line leak. It was not a city line. It was on the petrochemical side," said Chief Billy Belyeu of the Corpus Christi FD. Officials say a 16” line ruptured at a local refinery around 2:44 p.m. Thurs afternoon. "It hasn't been identified who the line belongs to yet. That may take a while," added Chief Belyeu. KINMUNDY, Illinois At least 20 different fire departments were working Wed night to put out a massive fire at Marion Co, Illinois, chicken farm. The fire was still smoldering Thurs morning, and firefighters said they expect to continue battling the flames well into the day. The fire began around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Farina Farms along Hwy 37. Marion Co Sheriff Kevin Cripps described the fire as "humongous" and said multiple buildings spanning 200-300 yards long were on fire. Cripps said the buildings contained well over 1 million chickens. The smoke flume could be seen throughout southern Illinois. It even showed up on the Doppler radar, Cripps said. It was not immediately clear what caused the fire.
