# Kartavirya Arjuna: The King with a Thousand Arms
Kartavirya Arjuna was a mighty king of the Haihaya dynasty. His capital was Mahishmati, situated on the banks of the Narmada River in present-day Madhya Pradesh.
He was the son of King Kritavirya and was a great devotee of Lord Dattatreya. Hindu scriptures describe him as possessing a thousand arms and performing numerous Ashwamedha Yajnas.
## Kartavirya Arjuna and Ravana
Once, Kartavirya Arjuna was enjoying himself in the waters of the Narmada River with his wives. Using his thousand arms, he obstructed the river's flow.
At the same time, Ravana was worshipping Lord Shiva on the opposite bank, using a Shiva Lingam made of sand. When the water level suddenly rose, the Lingam was washed away.
Enraged, Ravana searched for the cause and challenged Kartavirya Arjuna to a battle. Ravana was defeated and taken captive. He was eventually released after his grandfather, Sage Pulastya, intervened.
## The Conflict with Sage Jamadagni
During a hunting expedition, Kartavirya Arjuna visited the hermitage of Sage Jamadagni. The sage welcomed the king and his large army and served them a sumptuous feast.
Surprised by the abundance of food in a forest hermitage, the king asked how the sage had managed to feed so many people.
Jamadagni explained that he possessed a divine cow named Kapila, associated with Kamadhenu, the celestial wish-fulfilling cow. Through her divine powers, he was able to obtain everything required for the feast.
Kartavirya Arjuna wanted the cow for himself and demanded that the sage hand her over. Jamadagni refused, explaining that the divine cow had been bestowed by the gods for sacrificial rituals.
The king responded with violence. He sent his soldiers to kill Jamadagni and seize the cow.
When Parashurama, the sage's son, learned of the atrocity, he was filled with fury. Armed with his axe, he confronted Kartavirya Arjuna and killed him.
Parashurama subsequently undertook twenty-one campaigns against the Kshatriyas.
Kartavirya Arjuna Stotra — For Recovering Lost or Stolen Belongings
Since Kartavirya Arjuna was a big genuine devotee of Lord Dattatreya.. he is worshiped and his sacred shloka is recited with faith, seeking divine grace to recover lost, misplaced or stolen belongings.
Sanskrit Shloka
कार्तवीर्यार्जुनो नाम राजा बाहुसहस्रवान् ।
तस्य स्मरणमात्रेण गतं नष्टं च लभ्यते ॥
English Transliteration
Kārtavīryārjuno nāma rājā bāhusahasravān.
Tasya smaraṇamātreṇa gataṁ naṣṭaṁ cha labhyate.
Devotees traditionally chant this shloka with sincere devotion when an important possession goes missing or something is stolen. They pray to Kartavirya Arjuna for his blessings and for the recovery of the lost item.

An underrated judgment that the media hasn’t talked about enough.
Madras High Court delivered an important judgment on religious conversion and foreign funding.
It began with a trust called Kanzeon Public Charitable Trust, which runs a Montessori school and a Zen Meditation Centre in Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu.
The trust wanted to receive foreign donations, so it applied for registration under the FCRA.
But the govt rejected its application. Why?
The govt found that the trust had not correctly disclosed its religious character in its application. The trust argued that its meditation centre was not religious in nature and challenged the rejection before the Madras High Court.
Madras High Court upheld the govt's decision.
The judges noted that the trust is run by a Christian priest, and its website prominently displayed a cross-like symbol. Yet, it had not disclosed its religious character in its application.
The court also said that organisations engaged in converting people from one religion to another should not be granted FCRA registration.
Now, you can understand why there are protests against the FCRA and why, if this Bill is passed, protests could intensify.

# NAVARATRI – 9 DAYS, 9 SPECIAL AARTIS
During Navaratri, some families follow the tradition of performing a special aarti for each of the nine forms of the Goddess, along with the regular camphor aarti.
These practices vary across regions and families. What matters most is the devotion with which we worship the Divine Mother.
DAY 1 – MAA SHAILAPUTRI
Betel Leaf Aarti
Arrange betel leaves in a circle on a plate and place a ghee lamp in the centre. Offer the aarti to the Goddess.
DAY 2 – MAA BRAHMACHARINI
Flower Aarti
Arrange white and yellow flowers on a plate, place a lamp in the centre and offer prayers to the Goddess.
DAY 3 – MAA CHANDRAGHANTA
Tambittu Aarti
Prepare a traditional tambittu lamp using rice flour, jaggery and ghee. Place a wick in it and light it as an offering.
DAY 4 – MAA KUSHMANDA
Lemon Lamp Aarti
Following the customary practice, use a lemon shell as a lamp, fill it with ghee or oil, and light a wick.
DAY 5 – MAA SKANDAMATA
Camphor and Cardamom Aarti
Offer a traditional aarti using camphor and cardamom, following the family's customary practice.
DAY 6 – MAA KATYAYANI
Coconut Shell Aarti
Use a clean coconut shell as a traditional lamp, with a wick or camphor, and offer prayers to the Goddess.
DAY 7 – MAA KALARATRI
Jaggery Aarti
In some traditions, jaggery is shaped into a small lamp and used as an offering to the Goddess.
DAY 8 – MAA MAHAGAURI
Pancharati / Sumangali Aarti
Light a five-faced lamp with ghee wicks and perform Maha Mangalarati to the Divine Mother.
DAY 9 – MAA SIDDHIDATRI
Navadhanya / Maha Aarti
Arrange nine varieties of grains on a plate and place a lamp alongside them. Alternatively, conclude Navaratri with a traditional Maha Aarti.
## A SIMPLE DAILY WORSHIP ROUTINE
Begin with a ghee lamp or camphor aarti. Sing the Goddess's aarti and then perform the day's special aarti according to your family's tradition.
There is no need for elaborate arrangements. A sincere prayer offered with devotion is meaningful in itself.
May Shri Durga Devi bless every home with peace, happiness, strength and prosperity.
Shri Matre Namah.

The Goddess Who Refused the Nectar of Immortality
When the Amrita was being distributed in heaven, one Goddess refused to drink even a single drop.
Who was she—and why did she refuse immortality?
When the Ocean of Milk was churned, fourteen divine treasures emerged. Finally, Lord Dhanvantari appeared carrying the sacred pot of Amrita.
Lord Vishnu took the form of Mohini and began distributing the nectar among the Devas.
Among them was Goddess Suvarchala, daughter of the Sun God, known for her wisdom and austerity.
When Mohini offered her the nectar, Suvarchala folded her hands and said:
> “My Lord, forgive me. I do not wish to drink even a drop of this nectar.”
Everyone was astonished.
She explained:
> “What is the value of immortality if I can live forever while humans, animals and birds continue to suffer from hunger, disease and death?”
> “If another being is in pain, can my immortality remove that pain?”
> “An existence that cannot feel the suffering of others is not truly alive.”
Then she made an extraordinary request:
> “I do not want immortality. Give me the blessing of compassion.”
> “Whenever a living being sheds tears because of suffering, let even a small part of that pain touch my heart, so that I may become a means of relieving it.”
Hearing this, Lord Vishnu abandoned His Mohini form and appeared as Sri Mahavishnu.
He bowed to her wisdom and said:
> “You have rejected immortality and chosen compassion—the greatest principle of the universe.”
He blessed her that her compassionate nature would never perish and that her name would be remembered not for immortality, but for sacrifice, compassion and the power to give life.
Suvarchala later became the consort of Hanuman. She became his shakti Lord Hanuman remains absorbed in devotion to Sri Ram

*📖 Day 64 – Lesson 64 from the Bhagavad Gita*
*Lesson: Don't wait for perfect conditions to do the right thing*
*Context Inspired by Krishna's teaching on Karma Yoga*
Throughout the Gita, Krishna never tells Arjuna:
"Wait until you feel completely ready."
"Act only when life becomes easy."
Instead, He teaches:
👉 Perform your duty in the situation you are in.
The battlefield wasn't perfect. Arjuna's emotions weren't perfect. The circumstances weren't perfect.
Yet the right action still had to be taken.
*🧠 Life Lesson*
Many dreams remain unfinished because we keep waiting for:
the perfect time, complete confidence, more resources, zero fear
But perfection rarely arrives.
The Gita teaches that right action should not depend on perfect circumstances.
Progress belongs to those who begin with what they have.
A seed doesn't wait for perfect weather to start growing—it grows whenever it gets the opportunity.
*🔑 Apply This Today*
Ask yourself: "What good action have I been postponing while waiting for the 'right time'?"
Then take one small step today:
send that application, start that course, make that phone call, begin that project, have that honest conversation
Small beginnings often lead to great transformations.
*🌱 One-line takeaway*
Don't let the pursuit of perfect conditions stop you from taking the right action today.
