First they killed Iraqis. "A mistake" Then Afghans. "A mistake" Then Libya. "A mistake" Then Yemen. "A mistake" Now they financed a genocide incl. rape, torture, mass displacement. And again: "we should have done it differently" It was never a mistake. It was the plan.

She dated Trotsky's assassin. Her photograph became the face of anti-fascism. Barcelona, 21 July 1936 — 90 years ago today. Days after Franco's coup was crushed in the streets, 17-year-old Marina Ginestà posed on the rooftop of the Hotel Colón, rifle on her shoulder. By her own account, it was the only time she ever held a gun. She was a translator and journalist for the Republic — and, years earlier, the girlfriend of Ramón Mercader, the man who would kill Trotsky. Not a portrait of a soldier. A portrait of a generation caught inside history. "It's a good photo. It reflects the feeling we had at that moment." — Marina Ginestà, 2008 📷 Juan Guzmán/EFE · courtesy Manuel Periáñez

Today in history Carlo Giuliani, an Italian activist protesting 2001's G8 summit, was shot dead by police. It was the first murder of an anti-globalization protester since 1999's WTO protests, and the student became icon for the left, who saw his murder as a state execution.

In July 19, 1979, the Sandinistas overthrew a dictatorship. Reagan's answer: a covert war paid for by Saudi Arabia and armed with weapons Israel took from the Palestinians in Lebanon. 5,000 tons seized, exhibited in Haifa, shipped to Honduras in sealed containers. Price tag: $36 million, settled as a "gentlemen's agreement," nothing in writing. Reagan asked King Fahd for the money himself. The US government admitted all of it in court in 1989, then gave Israel five paragraphs in the official report and classified the rest. The State Department's own volume on those years is still sealed in 2026. Every document in the article: the signed Finding, the Pentagon trip report, the court stipulation, the memo North doctored. Highlighted, page by page. Marxism is "terrorism" again. A president was just abducted from Caracas. Same war, new paperwork. Read Full Article

Happy birthday, Madiba Never forget when a journalist tried to corner him on his friendship with "US enemies" like Fidel Castro — and he answered with one line that silenced the room: "One of the mistakes which some political analysts make is to think that their enemies should be our enemies."

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio effectively branded opposition to fascism "a revolt of the weak and cowardly against the strong and good." This is a declaration of war on antifascism & communism — and it will set the international tone against anything progressive.

New Article Srebrenica in the 90s, Gaza Today - How imperialism weaponizes humanitarian language to justify atrocity. "I was under initial instructions to sacrifice Srebrenica." That's what US diplomat Richard Holbrooke admitted in 2005. Not a mistake. Not a tragedy. An instruction. While 8,000 Bosniak men and boys were being slaughtered, the CIA had satellite imagery of the bodies piling up. They watched. They did nothing. Why? Because the massacre served a purpose: justifying NATO intervention and carving up the Balkans for Western profit. Today, those same powers mourn Srebrenica while enabling Gaza's genocide. The hypocrisy isn't new. It's systematic. Read the full investigation that Western media won't touch.

BREAKING: Activists tried to block the Rheinmetall arms factory in Berlin. Police violentlydrove them back before they reached the gate. Rheinmetall is no bystander. Der Spiegel reported Germany cleared 10,000 rounds of its 120mm tank ammunition for Israel, to replenish stocks spent in Gaza. In June 2024 UN experts named the company directly, warning that firms arming Israel risk complicity in acts that may amount to genocide. The former Pierburg plant is being converted to make casings for 155mm NATO artillery munition — the first weapons built in Berlin since 1945, in a working-class district next to a public park. German imperialism come home: the state suspends its debt rules for weapons while it cuts schools, clinics and rent. The profit leaves; the factory stays. Action days 10–12 July, mass demo Saturday. New article: The Pen That Outlived the Bomb: Ghassan Kanafani and the Politics ofPalestinian Liberation. 54 years ago today the Mossad assassinated Ghassan Kanafani inBeirut. He was a communist and revolutionary socialist, the spokesman of the Marxist-Leninist PFLP, and the man who tied Palestine toVietnam, Cuba and Algeria as one struggle. The line that holds his whole politics: "The Palestinian cause is not a cause for Palestinians only, but a cause for every revolutionary, wherever he is, as a cause of the exploited and oppressed masses in our era." Read that carefully. Kanafani is refusing to let Palestine be walled off as a private tragedy. He puts the Palestinian refugee in the same trench as the striking miner, the colonised peasant, the worker anywhere under the boot of empire. Their enemy is the same enemy, so their fight is the same fight. That is why they killed him, and why the argument outlived the bomb. Read the full Article HERE

Israeli forces killed the communist Palestinian revolutionary Ghassan Kanafani on this day in 1972. Everyone knows his iconic interview — "a conversation between the sword and the neck" — but have you seen this rare footage? Watch him explain why there is no alternative to people's war for liberation. The original film, "Resistance, Why?," was burned by right-wing Lebanese militias after production in 1971, before it could be released, and was restored only between 2019 and 2021. Kanafani was already one of the most prominent Palestinian voices before that famous interview. The Mossad assassinated him with a car bomb, and he served as spokesperson for the Marxist Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine while never once wielding a gun himself. First a fun-fact: I was sanctioned one year ago by the European Union for posting these historical facts! Did you know that former Nazis built careers in NATO's highest ranks? Today the NATO summit opens in Ankara, Türkiye — but did you know about the alliance's Nazi legacy? The largest peacetime military alliance in the world has a dubious history of employing some of Hitler's most senior officers. The names Hans Speidel and Adolf Heusinger mean little to most people today. Yet both were key figures in Hitler's war machine who went on to hold some of the highest positions in NATO — Speidel commanding the alliance's land forces in Central Europe, and Heusinger chairing its Military Committee. Read on to learn how former Nazis helped shape NATO into the organization it is today.

Happy birthday, Frida Kahlo! The world remembers her for her art, style, and persona. But few recall she was also a committed political activist. Her work carried her communist, anti-fascist, and anti-imperialist beliefs. She joined the Mexican Communist Party in 1927. Her convictions never left her — even in death, when a hammer and sickle flag draped her coffin. Watch this video on her revolutionary legacy.

Today 64 years ago, Algeria declared official independence from France after a long and arduous struggle led by the Algerian National Liberation Front. The armed struggle of the Algerians tore down a system of racial and religious segregation, political disenfranchisement, and economic oppression. The armed struggle of the Algerian people gave birth to the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, a nominally socialist state in North Africa that became a role model for other colonized peoples on the African continent and around the world.

https://youtu.be/TD8SDssOLAs?is=PEvH_vO3TPweIXcR I was sanctioned over my pro-Palestine journalism. I did not commit a crime, I was not charged, sued, or found guilty by any court — I simply expressed a position that the European Union considers unacceptable, and for that I was sanctioned. The EU says that sanctions are designed to change the "non illegal behaviour". "Non-Illegal". In my conversation with Chris Hedges, we discuss the EU sanctions against me, the criminalization of independent journalism, and what my case reveals about the state of press freedom and civil liberties in Europe. And China now runs the machine: 15 of 19 industrial cobalt mines, the refineries, the batteries. The Congo keeps 17 cents on the dollar. They killed Lumumba for trying to stop it. READ FULL ARTICLE
