Exam pressure and stress are real.
You can study hard, know the content, and still blank out the moment you enter the exam hall.
Coach Chun, Singapore’s first advanced-certified Wim Hof Method instructor, taught our students how to manage exam stress and perform under pressure using breathwork.
When students feel anxious, their heart may start racing.
Their breathing becomes shallow.
Their palms get sweaty.
And suddenly, even familiar questions can feel difficult.
Coach Chun shared three important takeaways:
1. Learn to struggle longer
When students see a difficult question, many immediately think:
“I cannot do this.”
Then they panic, lose confidence or give up too quickly.
Coach Chun taught students how to stay with the struggle a little longer.
Performing well does not mean you never struggle.
It means you can stay calm enough to keep thinking, even when the question is difficult.
2. Stay calm under pressure
When you feel anxious, it becomes harder to think clearly.
So Coach Chun taught students simple breathing techniques, like box breathing, to help them slow down and regain control.
3. Increase alertness and energy
Coach Chun also taught students breathing exercises they can use when they feel tired, sleepy or mentally drained.
By changing the way they breathe, students can help themselves feel more alert and ready to focus again.
The biggest lesson?
Your breathing affects how you feel, how clearly you think, and how well you perform.
You may not always be able to control the exam question.
But you can learn to control how you respond to it.
Hope writing this out here helped you a little. Jia you ok!

A student scoring 35% should not study the same way as a student scoring 55%.
And a student scoring 65% should not study the same way as a student trying to secure a strong A1.
Different scores need different strategies.
In our second segment today, Teacher Adam, Teacher Tra and Dr Wilson guided students through three improvement pathways:
Fail to Pass
Teacher Adam shared that when a student is failing, the issue is usually not just careless mistakes.
There are often major gaps in their basic concepts.
So the first step is to find the weak topics, seek help quickly and relearn the concepts properly instead of forcing yourself to keep doing questions you do not understand.
Pass to Better Grade
Teacher Tra shared that many passing students actually lose a lot of marks through careless mistakes and shaky understanding of basic concepts.
Once these repeated mistakes are fixed and the foundation becomes stronger, many students can make a big jump towards a better grade.
A/B to Strong A1
Dr Wilson shared that students at this level usually need more question exposure, faster execution and stronger exam precision.
They need to identify unfamiliar question types, practise more challenging problems and train themselves to complete the paper accurately under time pressure.
Students then looked at their own WA exam papers and marked out:
Where exactly am I losing marks?
Is it because of weak concepts, careless mistakes, lack of exposure or not enough speed?
What should I work on before my next exam?
Because once you know why you lost your marks, you can stop studying blindly.

| 7 | For example, in Math, memorising a formula is not enough.
You need to know when to use it.
You need to know how the question can test it differently.
You need to know the common traps.
And you need to stay calm enough to apply it correctly.
Because in the exam, you don’t want to say:
“I studied this before.”
You want to say:
“I know what this question is testing, and I know what to do.”

Ever studied long and hard, but felt stuck when the exam question looked different?
That is why I taught students the LEAP Framework today.
Because doing well in exams is not just about studying more.
It is about learning in a way that helps you remember better, apply faster, and stay calm when it matters.
LEAP stands for:
L: Learn
Don’t just memorise. Understand what the topic is really about.
E: Encode
Connect it to something you already know, so it stays in your memory.
A: Apply
Practise it across different question types, not just the easy ones.
P: Perform
Train yourself to use it properly during the exam, even under pressure. | 2 022 |
