10 Democracy does not work as people are too easily fooled. The media decides who gets airtime, who gets praised and so who gets elected. It's just a popularity contest based on superficial factors.
The number one issue by far apart from immigration according to polls is housing, then the cost of living and heathcare. These issues have been caused by the record mass immigration to Ireland. (The highest immigration level in the world as a % of population in 2023).
Yet no candidate who is genuinely critical of Ireland's immigration policy will be elected in the European elections.
The candidates who will be elected who talk about immigration only do so for votes: Niall Boylan, Michael McNamara and possibly Peadar Tรณibรญn. Three fakes who don't believe what they are saying and won't cause any change .

13 One of the locals in Ballyogan was interviewed by EU and local election candidate for Tallaght Central, Philip Dwyer, a couple of weeks back.
He told Dwyer that 30 Roma were living in council supported housing next to him and it reminded me of Aisling Murphy's trial when we learned that her murderer, Josef Puska, had around 30 family members living in his council supported house too.
What I suspect is happening is that once one Roma gets social housing, they'll pack the house with their extended family who'll all register as homeless and wait to be provided homes of their own.
Gript had a good report last week explaining that while over 14,000 people are registered as homeless in the State, only 55% of the adults are Irish citizens.
We've previously learned that between 30%-40% of people who are registering as homeless in Ireland every month are newly arrived immigrants with a large contingent being Roma, so the homeless problem could be halved by just deporting people.

14 Rapists have been applying for asylum to try to dodge deportation at the end of their sentences, reports the Sunday Times:
๐น In the cases of an Albanian man and a Pakistani man, both convicted of rape, gardaรญ attempted to serve deportation orders before their scheduled release dates so they could be deported on release.
๐น However, both men claimed they were applying for asylum. As a result, both men walked free as gardaรญ could only serve them with deportation orders once their applications are rejected. They then disappeared.
๐น A manhunt was issued and both men were found and jailed, but the Pakistani rapist later obtained a High Court bail and is free pending his claim for asylum.
๐น The Albanian man was detained but released soon afterwards in a suspected blunder by the authorities. After a second manhunt for him, the man said he was withdrawing his asylum application and would return home voluntarily.
๐น The Department of Justice said it would not comment on individual cases, but while the Refuge Convention allows Ireland to deny refugee status to rapists, it also prohibits us from deporting them to countries deemed unsafe.
๐น The Times are also reporting that IPO staff are blaming the increased asylum seeker numbers not only the UK's Rwanda Plan, but also because there are only eight countries on Irelandโs IPO safe country of origin list compared to other EU countries where there as many as 20.
๐น In recent weeks around 50 migrants have been sent back across the border in the north as part of Operation Sonnet, but sources told the Times that a number simply got on other buses or tried another route and came across again. The big success stories RTร and other outlets ran on Operation Sonnet was merely news theatre for the elections.
๐น The Sunday Times also reports on the information first revealed by this channel but worth repeating: The fingerprints of asylum seekers are not checked against criminal databases, contrary to dishonest assertions by politicians, NGOs, and low-quality journalists.
๐น Fingerprints are only checked against the Eurodac system and the Schengen Information System. The first system solely informs the authorities if a migrant claimed asylum elsewhere in the EU or if they were caught crossing a border illegally. It provides no other details, not even a name. The second system informs authorities if there is an outstanding warrant for their arrest anywhere in the EU. It does not provide a backlog of any prior convictions.

27 Election posters have to be 2.5 meters off the ground so a couple of blind lads have going around with a measuring tape and a pair of snippers taking down any hung below the limit as a community service.
There's a genuine concern people could get their eyes poked out on the sharp corners, especially if they're sight impaired. Candidates whose posters they collect are then fined โฌ150 per poster.

A mother in Tallaght has warned that her 14-year-old girl was walking home with a friend when a foreign man driving a van stopped as they were going past Sacred Heart School in Killinardan and asked her to get in to show him directions.
