Causes of Joy to Ones’ Heart: ‎Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said: ‎“Four things that bring joy to the heart: ‎• Looking at loved ones ‎• Looking at the blue sky ‎• Looking at flowing water ‎• Looking at greenery.” ‎[Summarised from Zaad al-Ma'ad | Pg. 614]

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله: "The (true) fasting individual is the one whose limbs abstain from sins; and whose tongue abstains from lying, vulgarity and false speech; and whose stomach abstains from food and drink; and whose private parts abstain from obscenities.” [al-Waabil al-Sayyib | 43]

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله: “Sins expose blessings to eradication. Obedience to Allāh brings about blessings in all the person's affairs — the worldly affairs and the affairs of the next life — while sins destroy all blessings.” [One Hundred Pieces of Advice | Pg. 19]

📌 A simple breath… Ibn al-Dunya mentioned that the Prophet Dawud (alayhi salam) asked Allāh: "What is the least of your blessings?.” Allāh revealed to him, "O Dawud, take a breath." Dawud did so, and Allāh told him: "That is the least of My Blessings on you.” [Excerpt from Patience and Gratitude by Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah | Pg. 70]

ONLY £545 LEFT Winter Relief for Our Orphans & Widows Let No Orphan or Widow Face Winter Without Us. Afghanistan’s winters can be brutal. Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله: ‎“Allāh does not forget the good you do, nor does He forget the good you did to others and the pain you relieved them from. Nor will He forget the eye which was about to cry but you made it laugh.” ‎[Timeless Seeds of Advice]

📌 The pain of what has passed: Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله writes: “(The pain) of what has passed can not be removed by grieving over it, but only through: • Acceptance (i.e. being pleased with Allāh’s Decree) (al-Ridhaa) • Gratitude (al-Hamd) • Patience (al-Sabr) • Faith in Predestination (al-Imaan bil-Qadr) and the saying of the slave: “It is the decree of Allāh and what He Wills, He Does” (قَدَّرَ اللَّهُ وَمَا شَاءَ فَعَلَ)." Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله: “If a good opinion advocates work and action then it is correct, however if it recommends idleness and indulgence in sins, then it is deception. Good opinion is a wish, so whoever's wish is guiding him to obey Allāh, and preventing him from committing sins, then it is a sound wish; but whoever's wish is to stay idle, then he is definitely deceived. It is like someone who has good opinion of Allāh, with a strong wish to achieve the highest level in Paradise, in an eternal Grace, without obeying the Commands of Allāh!.” [Spiritual Disease & Its’ Cure, Pg. 52]

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله: “Supplication is one of the most beneficial remedies, it is the enemy of affliction, it fends it off and treats it, obstructs its befalling and uplifts it if it descends.” [The Disease & The Cure | Pg. 15]

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said: “The most precious reward during life is to busy yourself with the most suitable and useful matters in their exact and suitable time.” [Al-Fawā’id | Pg. 55]

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله: "Know that the greatest of losses is for you to be preoccupied with one who will bring you nothing but a loss in your time with Allāh - the Mighty and Majestic - and being cut off from Him, a wasting your time with the person, a weakening of your energy, and the dispersing of your resolve. So, if you are tested with this - and you must be tested with this - deal with him according to how Allah would wish, and be patient with him as much as possible. Get closer to Allah and His Pleasure by way of this person, and make your getting together with him something to benefit from, not something to incur a loss from. Be with him as if you are a man who is on a road who was stopped by another man, who then asks you to take him on your journey. Make sure that you are the one who gives him a ride, and that he is not the one giving you the ride. If he refuses, and there is nothing to gain from travelling with him, do not stop for him, bid him farewell, and do not even turn back to look at him, as he is a highway robber, regardless of who he really is. So, save your heart, be wary of how you spend your days and nights, and do not let the Sun set before you arrive at your destination." [al-Waabil as-Sayyib | Pg. 45]

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله: ‏حُبّ العِلْم، وطلبه أصل كُلّ طاعة Love of knowledge and seeking it is the foundation of every act of obedience. ‏وحُبّ الدُّنْيا والمال، وطلبه أصل كُلّ سيِّئة And love of the world and wealth, and seeking it, is the foundation of every sin. ‏مفتاح دار السعادة (٤١٩/١)

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله: ‎“What Allāh wills will inevitably be, and what He does not will won't be, even if all of creation come together in agreement.” ‎[al-Fawā’id]

Du’ā (Supplication): Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله: “And of the diseases that afflict du’ā and prevent its response is that a person is hasty in expecting a response, and the response is delayed, so he gives up hope, and leaves du’ā. His example is like that of a person who planted a seed, or a seedling, then guarded it, and took care of it, and watered it, but when it delayed in (giving its fruit) and reaching perfection, he left it and did not take care of it anymore.” [Al-Jawaab al-Kaafi | P. 10]

The Silent Weight of Sin Imām Ibn al-Qayyim said: “Do not be fooled if you do not see the effect of your sin immediately, because you may experience its effect after 40 years.” [Ad-Dā wad-Dawā] ”So let us turn in sincere repentance today, before the hidden consequences of our sins find us tomorrow. For sins do not vanish with time, they linger silently, their weight waiting to descend when least expected. Delaying repentance may be the very reason a door of goodness remains closed to us today.” أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ Astaghfirullāha wa atūbu ilayh - I seek the forgiveness of Allāh and repent to Him.

When you’re going through a trial… Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said: "No one remembers Allāh during difficulty except that Allāh makes it easy for him, Nor during a time of hardship except that Allāh gives him ease, Nor during a hard time except that He lightens it for him.” [al-Wabil as-Sayyib] ❤️
