Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said: ‎The person who is profoundly knowledgeable about Allāh complains to Allāh alone. And the most knowledgeable person about Allāh is the one who complains about himself to Allāh and never to people. He complains about the causes that made people do wrong to him, for he knows the following Quranic verses: "And whatever of misfortune befalls you, it is because of what your hands have earned. And He pardons much." [42: 30] [Al-Fawā’id | 135]

‎Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله “The heart is opened by showing kindness to the creation & benefiting them with various acts of kindness, such as wealth and physical efforts. Generosity expands the heart and cures the soul, while stinginess constricts the heart.” [100 Pieces of Advice | Pg.46]

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله: ‎“If thinking positively of Allāh motivates a person to strive in righteous deeds and it prompts him, helps him and drives him to do such deeds, then it is sound. ‎If it causes him to be lazy and to persist in sin, then he is deceived.” [Al-Jawāb al-Kāfi | Pg. 24]

‎Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said: ‎"Indeed a servant will come on the Day of Judgement with good deeds to the extent of mountains, however he then finds that his TONGUE destroyed all of them…..” (Ad-Dā wad Dawā, 375) https://www.instagram.com/dawnreminders

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله: “Glorified be Allāh! Your outward self is adorned with the raiment of righteousness while your inward self submits to vain desires, so wherever your raiments is scented, the impact of vain desires emerge, from which the sincere believers divert themselves, and to which the wrong-doers are inclined.” [al-Fawā’id | Pg. 108]

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله: “As long as you are performing prayer, you are knocking at the door of Allāh, and whoever is knocking at the door of Allāh, Allāh will open it for him.” [al-Fawā’id | Pg. 248]

Allāh explains the nature of many people: they remember Him intensely in hardship, yet become heedless when ease returns. https://www.instagram.com/dawnreminders

Evil Eye Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said: “It is an arrow, shot by the one who is jealous or (or is known) for giving evil-eye towards the one who is envied – hitting (the target) sometimes and missing it sometimes. So if it is encountered while uncovered and without protection, then the person is affected by it. But no doubt, if it is encountered while taking precaution, then it will not affect him; rather it may happen that this arrow (evil-eye) is returned back to the owner himself (i.e. the owner is affected by his own evil-eye).” [Zaad al-Ma`aad | 4/154]

‎Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله: “Whoever reflects upon the dunya and hereafter will know that he cannot attain one of them except with difficulty, so let him bare the difficulty for the one that is better and more lasting." ‎[al-Fawā’id | Pg. 37]

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله: "It is not fitting that the slave should let his tawakkul (reliance on Allāh) be in the form of helplessness, nor that he should claim that his helplessness was in fact tawakkul; instead he should make his tawakkul one of the necessary measures, without which one's aim will not be achieved." [Provisions for the Hereafter]

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله: "The strength and weakness of a person is in accordance to the strength of one's closeness (to Allāh). The closer the heart is to its Rabb, the stronger he becomes; and the further he is from Him, the more severe the estrangement between him and his Rabb will be." [Madarīj as-Salikeen]

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said: ‎“Indeed, dhikr of Allāh gives the one performing dhikr strength. To the point that with dhikr, he can do what he thought could not be done.” ‎[al-Jawāb al-Kāfī | 1/77]

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said: ‎"Do not belittle a small sin, for the biggest of fires can be caused by the smallest of sparks.” ‎[al-Fawā'id | 3/227]

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said: “The heart, in its journey to Allāh, Majestic is He, is like that of a bird: love is its head, and fear and hope are its two wings. When the head and two wings are sound, the bird flies gracefully. If the head is severed, the bird dies… if the bird loses one of its wings, it then becomes a target for every hunter or predator.” [Madarīj as-Salikeen | 1/390]

The closer the heart is to its Rabb, the stronger he becomes; and the further he is from Him, the more severe the estrangement between him and his Rabb will be." [Madarīj as-Salikeen]

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله: ‎“Giving al-ṣadaqah (ie: charity on Fridays) has a distinct advantage over the rest of the weekdays. Its superiority is similar to giving charity in the month of Ramaḍān in contrast to the rest of the months.” ‎[Zād al-Maʿād | 1/394]

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله: “The greenery and verdure of this world is like a tree. The rapid manner in which the world vanishes away bit by bit is like the shade. And the slave is a traveler heading toward the meeting with his Lord. When the traveler sees a tree on a hot day, he does not deem it appropriate to build a home under the tree or take it as a permanent residence; rather he shades himself according to his need. If he exceeds this, he is cut off from his companions.” [The Dunya & Its Reality | Pg. 18]
