FIVE STEP SOLUTION TO DEALING WITH MARITAL DISCORD If the husband sees ill-conduct from his wife, he should: 1⃣. Advise & admonish her. [1] If that doesn't work, he should: 2⃣. Sleep separately from her. [1] If that doesn't work, he should: 3⃣. Discipline her gently. [1] And if a woman fears indifference & neglect from her husband, she should: 4⃣. Come to a peaceful settlement with her husband. [2] If that doesn't work, they should: 5⃣. Appoint a mediator from each side. If they desire reconciliation, Allāh will restore harmony between them. [3] If that doesn't work, the last option is separation. [4] And if they choose to separate, Allāh will enrich both of them from His bounties. Advice for Muslim Brothers Working in the Private Hire/Taxi Industry A reminder to the brothers who work as Uber and private hire drivers: do not assume that you must expose yourself to every situation that arises during the job. There are practical steps you can take to avoid many of the situations that concern you, whilst continuing to earn a halal income. For example, if you arrive at a pickup location and discover that the passenger is a woman travelling alone, you can decline the journey and leave if you wish to avoid being alone with her. You are not compelled to carry every passenger simply because a booking has come through. Likewise, you can be selective about the hours you work. Mornings often involve people travelling to work, whereas certain evening periods may involve more journeys to nightlife venues. You can choose working hours that reduce the likelihood of being involved in situations you wish to avoid. If you do work during the evening, you can assess the booking when it appears and consider its destination before deciding whether to accept it. Even after accepting a booking, the app's Waybill feature allows you to check the destination, giving you the opportunity to reconsider a journey before proceeding if it involves taking someone somewhere you should not assist them in reaching. The point is that you can work in this occupation whilst taking practical steps to avoid many of its potential pitfalls. Rather than abandoning an entire means of earning a living because of circumstances that may arise, learn how the job operates and make use of the options available to you. Allah سبحانه وتعالى says: ﴿فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ﴾ “So fear Allah as much as you are able.” [Al-Taghābun 64:16] A Muslim should take the means to protect his religion whilst continuing to fulfil his responsibilities. Being cautious about fitnah does not require abandoning every occupation in which a potential difficulty might arise; it requires knowledge, sound judgement and taking reasonable steps to avoid what is prohibited. May Allah grant our brothers halal provision, protect them from fitnah and place barakah in their earnings. 📲 Forwarded

Ghayrah in Its Proper Place As we were casually talking, the topic of work came up, as it often does in conversations with some of the ʿAwaam. One brother mentioned that he works as an Uber driver but deliberately chooses certain times to avoid periods in which fitnah is more prevalent, even though the earnings are often greater during those times. May Allah bless him and keep him firm. Another brother then mentioned that he is currently working in construction. He explained that he had previously considered going into Uber driving himself, but his wife discouraged him. Why? Because she was uncomfortable with the thought of him being alone in a car with female passengers. جزاها الله خيرًا وكثّر من أمثالها! How beautiful is ghayrah when it is present in its correct place and governed by the limits of the Shareeʿah! This is not about unreasonable suspicion, controlling behaviour or making permissible things forbidden. Rather, it is about a woman having a genuine concern for her husband's religion, her marriage and the protection of their household from the avenues of fitnah. A woman who is concerned about her husband's standing before Allah, who wishes to protect her marriage and who is not indifferent to the dangers surrounding them is displaying a praiseworthy characteristic, provided that her concern remains within the boundaries of the Shareeʿah. Sadly, in a time when some people measure every decision by how much money it brings in, the importance of protecting one's religion can easily be overlooked. Yet what benefit is there in earning more if it comes at the expense of one's religious commitment, modesty or peace of mind? Rizq is from Allah, and it is not obtained by disobeying Him. A Muslim should seek provision through permissible means whilst taking the necessary steps to protect himself and his family from fitnah. And this reminder is not directed at women alone. Men, too, must possess ghayrah over their wives, daughters and households. The point is not to belittle anyone's lawful occupation or to suggest that every situation is the same. Rather, it is to remind ourselves that sometimes the barakah we seek is found not in earning more, but in having the courage to leave something for Allah's sake. May He protect us all from the fitan, both apparent and hidden.

Riba became banking. Music became entertainment. Free mixing became normality. Then, calling people back to the Qur’an and Sunnah was called “a new religion.” When Muslims forgot their religion, they thought that the Salafis had brought a new religion!

Fortnightly Telelinks with the Mashāyikh By the grace of Allah, we were blessed to host Shaykh Daghash Al-Ajmi hafidhahullah, whose visit brought much benefit to the masjid and the wider community. Since his departure, however, there has been a noticeable void. For this reason, we have decided to introduce fortnightly telelinks with the mashāyikh, covering topics that are relevant and beneficial to our community. We begin this Sunday with Shaykh Fath Al-Qadasi hafidhahullah, who will be discussing: “Cooperation Between Muslims in the Lands of Disbelief” 📅 Sunday 4 October 🕢 7:30 PM UK time 📍 Masjid As-Sahabah 295–297 Haggerston Rd London E8 4EN Open to everyone. -------------------------------- 💬https://t.me/masjidsahabah 💬https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029VadAK4n5K3zclcMjeg0F
