Heatwave Tips for Niqabis Enquiry: How do I get around and still maintain my modesty during a heatwave? Advice: 1⃣. Stay home if you can If you don't need to be out and about, your home is the best place to stay cool and comfortable. - Keep curtains or blinds closed during the hottest parts of the day. - Open windows when the air outside is cooler. - Use fans where possible. - Stay well hydrated throughout the day. - Avoid unnecessary physical exertion during peak heat hours. 2⃣. If you do need to go out, here are some practical tips a. Carry cold water with you Invest in a good insulated water bottle, such as a Stanley tumbler or similar. Fill it with ice and cold water before leaving home so you can stay hydrated throughout the day. b. Reassess your layers Do you really need all those layers? If your outer garment already fulfils the requirements of hijab Shar'ee, it may not matter as much what is underneath. Heavy underlayers, thick leggings, tights, or multiple garments can trap heat and make the weather much harder to manage. Choose lightweight, breathable fabrics where possible. c. Choose heat-friendly fabrics Natural fabrics such as cotton, linen, and lightweight blends generally allow better airflow than synthetic materials. Lighter colours can also help reflect sunlight rather than absorb it. d. Consider palm-cooling devices Research has shown that cooling the palms can help lower perceived body temperature and improve comfort. Small palm-cooling devices may be worth exploring and can often be worn discreetly beneath gloves. e. Look into cooling vests Cooling vests are becoming increasingly popular among athletes, outdoor workers, and those exposed to extreme heat. To give an example, Adidas recently introduced its CLIMACOOL system, which is being used in preparation for the 2026 World Cup. The system includes: - A frozen cooling vest - An insulating outer jacket - Cooling overshoes The aim is to reduce core and skin temperature before activity and aid recovery afterwards. Consumer versions of cooling vests are also available and may be useful for those who need to spend extended periods outdoors. f. Plan your journeys wisely - Travel early in the morning or later in the evening when temperatures are lower. - Seek shaded routes where possible. - Limit the amount of time spent standing in direct sunlight. - Take regular breaks indoors if you're out for long periods. g. Use cooling accessories Cooling towels, neck wraps, portable fans, and misting sprays can all make a noticeable difference without affecting your modest dress. May Allah grant immense reward to our niqabi sisters who remain steadfast upon modesty. Āmīn.

Fasting During the Heatwave Enquiry: Should we fast in the UK despite the heatwave? Advice: I was speaking to a good friend of mine in Saudi Arabia. He asked how things were in the UK and whether there was anything new. I replied, “Alhamdulillah, all is well. The only real update is the heatwave. Temperatures have reached around 33°C, which is unusually high for us.” His response was:« "يا رجل احنا فوق ٥٠" “(Come on) man, we're over 50°C.” So, in answer to the question: if people are able to cope with temperatures exceeding 50°C, then by Allah's permission we can manage temperatures below 40°C. As for fasting, my advice would be to have suhoor, make the intention, and begin the day intending to fast both Tāsūʿāʾ and ʿĀshūrāʾ. If, at any point during the day, you genuinely feel unable to continue due to dizziness, severe thirst, fear of fainting, or similar hardship, then you may break your fast. Since it is a voluntary fast, there is no sin upon you for doing so. This approach is better than not trying at all. In either case, you stand to gain one of two great rewards: 1⃣. You complete the fast despite the heat If Allah enables you to complete the fast, then the hardship endured brings increased reward. Allah says: “That is because they suffer neither thirst, nor fatigue, nor hunger in the cause of Allah... except that it is recorded for them as a righteous deed. Indeed, Allah does not allow the reward of the doers of good to be lost.” [At-Tawbah 9:120] And the Prophet ﷺ said to ʿĀʾishah (may Allah be pleased with her): “Your reward is according to the hardship you endure.” The scholars explained that when hardship is inseparable from an act of worship and not self-imposed, an increase in hardship can result in an increase in reward. 2⃣. You intend to fast but are forced to break it If you begin the day sincerely intending to fast and later have to break your fast due to genuine inability, then we hope that Allah will reward you according to your intention and the effort you made. The point is not to deprive yourself of the opportunity from the outset. Make the intention, take the means, and trust in Allah. If He enables you to complete the fast, then alhamdulillah. If circumstances force you to break it, then alhamdulillah — you still set out seeking His pleasure and reward. Reflect: Abū Mūsā al-Ashʿarī (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that while on a ship, a caller proclaimed: "Allah has decreed upon Himself that whoever makes himself thirsty for His sake on a hot day, Allah will give him drink on the Day of Resurrection." Thereafter, Abū Mūsā would deliberately fast on the hottest and most scorching days. One of the righteous women of the Salaf would specifically choose the hottest days to fast. When asked why, she replied: "When goods become cheap, everyone buys them." Meaning: she sought those deeds that few people were willing to undertake because of their difficulty. Many of the righteous predecessors would weep at the approach of death, not out of fear of dying, but because they would no longer experience the thirst of hot fasting days and the worship of long winter nights. Despite this, Islam does not require a person to harm themselves. Imām Aḥmad rahimahullah was asked about a fasting person suffering from severe heat and said: "There is no harm in wetting a cloth to cool oneself with it or pouring water over oneself." Likewise, one of the companions (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ pouring water over his head while fasting due to thirst or heat." Quotes from Laṭāʾif al-Maʿārif – Ibn Rajab rahimahullah

BENEFIT: If fasting the day of 'Arafah expiates two years worth of sins; the previous and the coming, why do we need to fast 'Ashura? Imam An-Nawawi rahimahullah said: If someone said: “If wudhu expiates [sins], what does prayer expiate? And if prayer expiates [sins], what will Jumu'ah and Ramdhan expiate? Similarly, fasting the day of 'Arafah is an expiation for two years, while fasting the day of 'Ashura is an expiation for one year?” The answer is as the scholars have mentioned: that each of the aforementioned is an independent form of expiation; so if any minor sins are present it will expiate it, but if there are no minor or major sins to expiate, a person will have good deeds recorded for them and they will be raised in ranks; such is the case with those prayers, fasting, ablution and other acts of worship performed by the Prophets, the righteous, and the young children. And in the case where there is one or more major sin present, without the presence of any minor sins, then we hope that it will reduce the major sin. [Al-Majmoo’ (6/432)]

How Muslims Should Approach the Days of Tasu‘a and ‘Ashura Question: A brother asks: “Tomorrow, Wednesday, is the day of Tasu‘a, and Thursday is the day of ‘Ashura. What should be done on these days?” Sheikh Rashad Adh-Dhali'ee hafidhahullah: These days are simply days like other days. What has been prescribed for us is to fast on them. We should neither celebrate them like the Jews celebrate, nor mourn them like the Rafidah do. The Jews take these days as a festival. They adorn their women with jewellery, wear fine clothing, and beautify themselves because it is the day when Allah saved Musa and destroyed Fir'awn. The Rafidah, however, make these days days of sadness, crying, and mourning gatherings, claiming that they are weeping for Husayn because he was killed during these days. Muslims do neither of these things. Rather, what is prescribed for them is to fast on these days, as the Prophet ﷺ said: “We are more deserving of Musa than they are.” We are more deserving of Musa than the Jews, who in reality rejected him — because if they had truly believed in him, they would have believed in Muhammad ﷺ. But they rejected him and what he called to. Therefore, Muslims are more deserving of Musa than them. They fast these days as a way of thanking Allah, the Most High, who saved Musa and his people and destroyed Fir'awn and his people. They do not join the Rafidah in their actions — neither in their celebrations nor by attending their gatherings. Scholars, such as Shaykh Al-Islam (may Allah have mercy on him) in Iqtida’ As-Sirat Al-Mustaqim, warned that people should not participate in these invented festivals, even through buying and selling. Even sellers should not sell in the places where such gatherings take place, because this is considered helping them in these wrong actions and encouraging them to do them. Whoever provides them with food, drink, or accommodation is considered to be assisting them. What is prescribed, based on the evidence, is to fast these days. The Companions used to fast them and would train their children to fast as well. They would fast the day of ‘Ashura and get the children accustomed to fasting. Source: https://t.me/rshad11/19568

The Evil Result of Turning Away from Islamic Knowledge Sheikh Ibn Baz rahimahullah said: "فإن الإنسان إذا كان لا يحضر حلقات العلم، ولا يسمع الخطب، ولا يعتني بما ينقل عن أهل العلم، فإنه تزداد غفلته، وربما يقسو قلبه حتى يطبع عليه ويختم عليه فيكون من الغافلين." “Indeed, when a person does not attend circles of knowledge, does not listen to sermons, and does not pay attention to what is conveyed from the people of knowledge, his heedlessness increases. His heart may even become hard until it is sealed and stamped, and he becomes one of the heedless.” [Majmu‘ al-Fatawa (12/324)] https://t.me/madrasatunaa/383

Good Habits vs. Bad Habits If you study daily, over time, you'll become knowledgeable in ways that seem almost effortless. But if your habits involve checking WhatsApp statuses every five minutes, multitasking between TikTok and Instagram, you'll look back after five years and regret how you've spent your life. Time will have slipped through your fingers, leaving you with little to show for it. 📲 Forwarded https://t.me/madrasatunaa/381
