Your Doctorate and Professorship Is Not What Matters!
ٌ}"The affair of this doctorate my brothers, and this professorship (i.e: to call someone ustādh) and other than that from the nicknames, do not mean anything to us unless it is accompanied by sunnah, deen and piety. "O mankind! We have created you from a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know one another. Verily, the most honourable of you with Allāh is the one who has more piety..." Was Yazīd ibn Muāʿwiyah ibn Abī Sufyān a Kāfir?
Imām Muqbil—may Allāh have mercy on him—was asked:
Question:
What is the stance of Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jamāʿah on Yazīd ibn Muʿāwiyah ibn Abī Sufyān?
Answer:
There is differing in it between the Ahlus-Sunnah, from them are those who see him as Kāfir (disbeliever), and from them are those who see him as a Fāsiq (open sinner), which is favored by al-Hāfidh adh-Dhahabī - and perhaps it is the right one in shā’ Allāh - that he is considered a Fāsiq, and his affair is with Allāh." Ḥizbiyyah (Partisanship)
Imām Muqbil—may Allāh have mercy upon him—said:
إذا رأيت الرجل يسب علماء السنة فاعلم أنه مفتون وأن الحزيبة متغلغلة في قلبه وإن تظار بأنه سني"If you see a man insulting the scholars of Ahlus-Sunnah, know that he has been infatuated, that hizbiyah (partisanship) has deeply penetrated his heart, and that he is pretending to be Sunni."

DO NOT SCARE ME WITH THE FATWĀ OF SO-AND-SO!!
Imām Muqbil—may Allāh have mercy on him—said:
فتوى أكبر واحد عندي تُخالف الدليل لا قيمة لها، وفتوى أصغر واحد منكم ومعه دليل على العين وعلى الرأس، حتى لا تُخوِّفوني بفتوى فلان أو فلان.“The fatwā of the greatest person in my view, if it contradicts the evidence, has no value. And the fatwā of the least of you, if he has evidence, is upon my eyes and my head—so that you do not frighten me with the fatwā of so-and-so or so-and-so.” [Ghāratul-Ashriṭah, 1/43] ——— Translated by: ʿAbdul-Laṭīf ibn Ḥuṣṣein https://t.me/Muqbil_Eng https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029VaHVDfO2kNFjO6CnyX3r

When Does Someone Exit the Bounds of Ahlus-Sunnah
Imām Muqbil—may Allāh have mercy on him—was asked:
Question:
When does a man exit the bounds of Ahlus-Sunnah?
Answer:
If most of his actions are in opposition to the Sunnah.
For example: he establishes mawlids [the birthdays of the Prophet ﷺ] and he calls upon other than Allāh--and that (calling upon other than Allāh) is an innovation that removes someone from the religion. Supplication to other than Allāh is an innovation that removes someone from the religion. He curses the Companions. The one who curses Abū Bakr and ʿUmar is a filthy Rāfiḍī, not from Ahlus-Sunnah.
If it occurs from him one innovation, or two, or three and he is a Sunnī, I hope it [the innovation] is overwhelmed by what is with him of virtue. And in Allāh is refuge sought.
What is important, O brothers, is he exits from the bounds of Ahlus-Sunnah if he opposes a foundation from the foundations of Ahlus-Sunnah. In Allāh is refuge sought.

Why the Sphinx of Egypt Was Not Destroyed by the Early Generations
Shaykh Ḥusayn al-Ḥāṭibī—may Allāh preserve him—mentions that Imām Muqbil—may Allāh have mercy on him—stated regarding the Sphinx:
"It is a statue of a lion in Egypt from the time of Pharaoh. The issue regarding it is that generations passed over it, Egypt was conquered, and it was not destroyed despite the presence of the evidences for the prohibition of pictures and statues.
The response to this is the following:
That those who conquered Egypt were not the Senior Companions, like ʿAmr ibn al-ʿĀṣ and ʿUqbah ibn Nāfiʿ—may Allāh be pleased with them. So perhaps this ruling [on the prohibition of statues] was hidden from them.
Or perhaps they were preoccupied with [other] conquests.
Or perhaps the land in which the statue was in was uninhabited.
Or some of them said: this statue was buried in sand until Napoleon of the West uncovered it later on. If this is correct, it is the best answer."

The Need for Knowledge
Shaykhah Umm ʿAbdillāh, the daughter of Imām Muqbil—may Allāh have mercy on them both—said:
حاجة المرأة الشديدة إلى العلم النافع أشد من حاجتها إلى النوم والطعام والشراب، إذ لا سعادة ولا قوام للحياة إلا بالعلم النافع."The need of the woman for beneficial knowledge is greater than her need for sleep, food, and drink. For there is neither happiness nor balance in life without beneficial knowledge."
