My idea for the embroidery came from my years working at a farm. Harvesting the crops that I planted from seed months prior, and then seeing the landscape change yet again when winter came and the fields turned to an endless white expanse of snow. In that moment it’s hard to believe that those fields once overflowed with abundance. But the cold months are a much-needed rest for the soil. In a way, I think the cold months are a much-needed rest for ourselves as well. It’s a time of reflection where we can slow our pace and attend to some of the things we maybe find ourselves neglecting in the often hectic summer months. Much like the leaves in autumn, the shedding of our former selves is vital to our continued growth.

🌱 BERKANO 🍂 The changing seasons are a reminder to us all of the cyclical nature of life. The renewal of life is made possible by the transformative power of death. This is in part why fall and spring are my favorite seasons. I feel there is a special sort of excitement during these transitional times of the year. Fall and spring embody the promise of something new to come. Berkano is a rune often associated with renewal.

Made a quick and easy project this evening, a quilted table runner. I’m still in the process of getting situated in my new place but I’ve been yearning to do a fall-related project.
