To The Secretary, Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications, Government of India, Dak Bhawan, New Delhi – 110001 Subject: Request for Inclusion of GDS under 8th Central Pay Commission (CPC) Respected Sir/Madam, With due respect, we, the Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) working under various circles of the Department of Posts, would like to humbly submit the following for your kind attention and immediate consideration: 1. Role and Responsibilities: Over the past decade, the nature of our duties has transformed drastically. GDS officials are no longer limited to traditional mail duties. We are now actively involved in: Delivering financial services under India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) Aadhaar enrollment and updation Assisting with Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) Promoting government schemes in rural India Managing essential operations at Branch Post Offices (BPMs) 2. GDS = Backbone of Rural Postal Network: Gramin Dak Sevaks are the only face of India Post in most remote and rural villages. Without our consistent and reliable services, the vision of Digital India and financial inclusion would remain unfulfilled. 3. Lack of Pay Commission Benefits: Currently, GDS are not included under the recommendations of the 7th or 8th Central Pay Commission. Instead, we are governed by separate GDS Committees. This creates a disparity even though our work closely mirrors that of regular government employees in both nature and importance. 4. Appeal for Equality and Justice: We work with the same dedication and loyalty, often for decades, without the benefits of job security, pension, or adequate salary. As responsible citizens serving the nation, we deserve: Inclusion under the 8th CPC Regularization of service status Just remuneration and benefits at par with our responsibilities Therefore, we humbly request: That the Government of India and the Department of Posts take sincere steps towards bringing GDS employees under the ambit of the 8th Central Pay Commission, and ensure long-overdue justice to thousands of rural postal workers. Actionable items with respect to BOs 1. User can do force shift end on next day 2. Transactions already done will be reflected to wallet and subsequently to BODA 3. Any mismatch in BODA and CBR can be made through mismatch entry. 4. Differences between wallet/physical cash and CBR can be made through wallet adjustment in Misc entry. 5. Unprocessed articles/ which are not invoiced can be invoiced next day using To be invoiced option 6. Articles which are already invoiced to postmen/ABPMs a. If acknowledged- user can get acknowledged articles in article delivery for next day b. If not acknowledged-user can acknowledgment next day and can continue for delivery.
