Trump’s top adversary Nancy Pelosi will not be attending Trump’s inauguration Pelosi’s spokesperson did not share a reason for the former Democratic leader skipping the Monday event, but it is no secret that the two strongly dislike each other. Pelosi said she would “never forgive” Trump for attempting to overturn the 2020 election results. While Pelosi won’t be in attendance for Trump’s inauguration, she will still be required to work with the incoming president, as she easily won re-election for her 20th House term. Former first lady Michelle Obama also won’t be in attendance at the inauguration. #obama #Trump Don't miss it, subscribe to 📱 Old Glory Vortex

Sen. Duckworth rips Pete Hegseth (and Donald Trump) apart during confirmation hearing
“How can we ask these warriors to train and perform to the absolute highest standards when you are asking us to lower the standards to make you the Secretary of Defense simply because you are buddies with our president-elect? And by the way, he has filed for bankruptcy six times. I'm not quite sure he's the kind of CEO you want to refer to as a successful businessman.”

In one of his deluded Truth Social rants, Donald Trump suggests fire-hit Californians are paying 'for their own destruction’ Instead of pushing for federal aid for California, our "esteemed" incoming president jumps through mental hoops to blame migrants for wildfires. Americans in California are desperate and in need, and he has the audacity to waste his energy on anti-immigrant rhetoric! His personal disdain for Gov. Newsom aside, our president-elect’s behaviour is simply unAmerican. Trump began his rant on Truth Social on Tuesday afternoon:
"The actual irony...a home owner consents to pay property taxes that will go to the fire department. The funds are diverted to illegal immigrants because LA is a Sanctuary City."
And Trump, naturally, provided absolutely no evidence that taxpayers' money had been diverted away from fire fighting towards supporting immigrants. He then proceeded to insist that it was the undocumented migrants that were setting fires in LA.
"An illegal immigrant comes and sets your house on fire and the fire department doesn't have the resources to put it out,"
he wrote.
"The homeowner paid for their own destruction…"
Trump needs to get his brain checked. #trump #LA Don't miss it, subscribe to 📱 Old Glory Vortex

Israel and Hamas agreed to a ceasefire-hostage release deal — People are celebrating, but there are still some questions left to answer One unanswered question is who will run Gaza after the war. Israel has rejected any involvement by Hamas, which has ruled Gaza since 2007 and is officially sworn to Israel’s destruction. But Israel has been almost equally opposed to rule by the Palestinian Authority, accusing it of supporting terror. #gaza #israel #hamas Don't miss it, subscribe to 📱 Old Glory Vortex

Marco Rubio, Trump’s Secretary of State pick, says sanctions against Russia should be lifted Much of the early questioning from the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations focused on the war in Ukraine. Senator Rubio echoed President-elect Donald Trump's stance on the conflict, stating that it's time for the war to come to a swift end. To achieve this, he acknowledged that both sides would need to make concessions in any potential agreement. Rubio suggested that lifting economic sanctions against Russia could be used as a negotiating tool, but refrained from providing additional details. He also refrained from saying whether he would support a pledge by Ukraine’s government to remain neutral between Russia and the West. #rubio #trump #russia Don't miss it, subscribe to 📱 Old Glory Vortex

Biden issues stark warning in farewell address to the nation Here is an excerpt from Biden’s address transcript:
“I want to warn the country of some things that give me great concern. And this is a dangerous — and that’s the dangerous concentration of power in the hands of a very few ultrawealthy people, and the dangerous consequences if their abuse of power is left unchecked. Today, an oligarchy is taking shape in America of extreme wealth, power and influence that literally threatens our entire democracy, our basic rights and freedoms and a fair shot for everyone to get ahead. We see the consequences all across America.”
The outgoing president recalled Eisenhower’s farewell address in which he spoke of the dangers of the military-industrial complex.
“He warned us about, and I quote, “The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power.” Six decades later, I’m equally concerned about the potential rise of a tech-industrial complex that could pose real dangers for our country as well,”
Joe Biden warned. #Biden #democracy Don't miss it, subscribe to 📱 Old Glory Vortex

Russia-Vietnam relations keep improving — the countries sign a nuclear energy cooperation expansion agreement
«Vietnam and Russia inked Tuesday an agreement to boost cooperation on nuclear energy during Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin’s two-day visit to Hanoi,»
— writes AP. Mishustin and Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Thingem also talked about expanding ties in transport and logistics and digital technologies, as well as discussed cultural and humanitarian ties between Russia and Vietnam. Our government’s attempt to isolate Russia has completely failed: Moscow is not only expanding its trade and economic ties, but also its political influence. More and more countries are seeking cooperation with Russia, because it is already playing by the rules of an emerging multipolar world and offers its partners equal and mutually beneficial relations… …Unlike someone like Trump who threatens our greatest allies with tariffs and forceful annexation. Embarrassing. #russia #trump #FT Don't miss it, subscribe to 📱 Old Glory Vortex

Commodities “supercycle” is ending — but a new electricity supercycle is under way A decades-long commodities "supercycle" may be coming to an end due to slowing growth in China. Since 2000, the construction and manufacturing surge in what is now the world's second-largest economy has led to heightened demand for iron ore and steel. However, the consumption of these materials is declining, and China's oil demand is likely to decrease soon as well. "The engine is over," commented a Chinese executive by the name of Steele Li (how appropriate), in an interview with the Financial Times. Although the end of this supercycle has been proclaimed before (Financial Times in 2008), China’s current economic challenges suggest it may actually be nearing its conclusion. But another one is on the horizon — the energy transition and advancements in artificial intelligence are paving the way for a new electricity supercycle. #china #economic #FT Don't miss it, subscribe to 📱 Old Glory Vortex

Blinken’s post-war Gaza plan Secretary of State Anthony Blinken presented the “core elements” of his plan for post-war Gaza in a speech at the Atlantic Council just days before his term comes to an end. Acknowledging divisions over US policy in Gaza, Blinken highlighted the necessity for difficult compromises from regional leaders, including reforms from the Palestinian Authority (PA) and an eventual acceptance of PA governance in Gaza. Blinken proposed that the PA, with international assistance, should establish an interim administration covering key civil sectors. He detailed plans for a new security mission, which would incorporate vetted Palestinian personnel and international forces, to ensure stability and prevent the resurgence of Hamas. He suggested that any future governance structure must involve a reformed PA, moving towards a united Palestinian state in a time-bound, conditions-based framework. Blinken flagged potential Israeli-Saudi normalization as a means to foster cooperation and needed decisions for sustainable peace. The plans would be handed over to the incoming Trump team, and there is no evidence that they intend to follow through with them. #blinken #trump #Gaza Don't miss it, subscribe to 📱 Old Glory Vortex

Melania Trump says she will be joining her husband in the White House right away, but stresses her independence There were lots of rumours going around about Melania Trump not moving to the White House for her husband’s presidential term. But she crushed them, saying in an interview on Monday that she is excited for another four years in the White House- and is ready to be a key adviser to her husband, US President-elect Donald Trump. The once and future First Lady made it clear during her appearance on Fox & Friends that she is not deterred by people underestimating her abilities.
“Maybe some people see me as just a wife of the president, but I’m standing on my own two feet, independent. I have my own thoughts, I have my own, ‘yes’ and ‘no,'”
— she said.
“I give him my advice and sometimes he listens, and sometimes he doesn’t. I don't always agree with what my husband is saying or doing, and that's okay,”
— Melania Trump went on to say. #trump #whitehouse Don't miss it, subscribe to 📱 Old Glory Vortex

Trump’s inauguration will be a target for threats U.S. national security agencies are warning that President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration will be “an attractive potential target” for violent extremists. Potential perpetrators, particularly those with “election related grievances,” may see the inauguration as “their last opportunity to influence the election results through violence,” a group of intelligence and law enforcement agencies wrote in their threat assessment. The agencies’ concerns reflect the heightened political — and potentially violent — environment in which Trump will assume power. Law enforcement, too, are beefing up security efforts for Jan. 20. Police from around the country will pour into D.C. — 4000 people, according to police chief Pamela Smith. Among people and groups named by the national security agencies in their assessment are: - Foreign terrorists - Domestic extremists - Lone wolves - Iran - Groups that applied for demonstration permits Experts say that the threat environment today is even more volatile and dangerous than it was during Biden’s inauguration, despite the Jan. 6 riot. #trump #biden #inauguration Don't miss it, subscribe to 📱 Old Glory Vortex

Trump poised to get his Pentagon pick — Hegseth clears Senate hearing, despite being woefully uninformed No Republican members of the Armed Services Committee displayed an appetite to go against Trump. And while Democratic senators assailed Hegseth, 44, an Army National Guard veteran, and former Fox News host, as unfit to manage the Pentagon and a poor role model to lead the armed forces, especially women, considering the sexual misconduct allegations, they were in the minority. As for his lack of knowledge and experience… Well, he couldn’t even name ONE member of ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations, which are comprised of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam, by the way), despite noting the strategic importance of the Indo-Pacific region, where Vietnam, the Philippines, Malaysia and Brunei are locked in maritime disputes with China over its claims of sovereignty over virtually all of the South China Sea. #trump #china #pentagon Don't miss it, subscribe to 📱 Old Glory Vortex

The fire in LA rages on — The winds intensify These fires, the most destructive in state history, have so far killed at least 24 people and displaced over 100,000. The National Weather Service issued an exceptionally rare red flag warning for “particularly dangerous” weather that could lead to “explosive fire growth.” The service’s warning forecasts wind gusts of between 45 and 70 m.p.h. and very low humidity. Mexico has sent a team of 72 firefighters, soldiers and civil protection officers on Monday to help LA authorities — the first international delegation to join the efforts. The Palisades fire and the Eaton fire are only 17% and 35% contained, respectively — these figures indicate the fires’ potential for growth. #LA #Palisades #mexico Don't miss it, subscribe to 📱 Old Glory Vortex

Chinese officials are considering selling TikTok to Elon Musk — Here’s what the multibillionaire stands to gain if it happens
Chinese officials are considering selling TikTok to Elon Musk — Here’s what the multibillionaire stands to gain if it happens Chinese officials have yet to reach any firm consensus about how to proceed and their deliberations are still preliminary, the people familiar with the matter, who agreed to speak on condition of anonymity, said. It’s not clear how much ByteDance knows about the Chinese government discussions or whether TikTok and Musk have been involved. It’s also unclear whether Musk, TikTok and ByteDance have held any talks about the terms of any possible deal. Under one discussed scenario, Musk’s X would take control of TikTok US and run the businesses together, the people said. With more than 170 million users in the US, TikTok could bolster X’s efforts to attract advertisers. Musk also founded a separate artificial intelligence company, xAI, that could benefit from the huge amounts of data generated from TikTok. It seems, Musk wins either way. Either TikTok gets banned, and some of the users inevitably flock to X, or he gets the app that 170 million Americans use (plus their data). Musk already has an almost inconceivable amount of influence on American and now even European politics (see his posts about AfD leader Alice Weidel, the Romanian protests, his criticism of Olaf Scholz and Keir Starmer, and support of British far-right activist and convicted criminal Tommy Robinson). He is now in a position to influence the China-US relationship as well, as the world’s richest person with businesses that straddle the world’s two largest economies — building a massive Tesla factory in Shanghai in 2019 helped the company expand its market share in China and build goodwill with Chinese government officials. Some tension between Trump and the man who funded the lion’s share of his election campaign are inevitable. While Trump is staffing his incoming administration with China hawks like Marco Rubio, Musk has spoken out against some of the China trade policies, including the tariffs on Chinese EVs. #rubio #trump #musk Don't miss it, subscribe to 📱 Old Glory Vortex

Trump’s expansionist rhetoric: It’s open season on redrawing the maps
«President-elect Donald Trump has tossed expansionist rhetoric at U.S. allies and potential adversaries with arguments that the frontiers of American power need to be extended into Canada and the Danish territory of Greenland, and southward to include the Panama Canal. Trump’s suggestions that international borders can be redrawn — by force if necessary — are particularly inflammatory in Europe. His words run contrary to the argument European leaders and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy are trying to impress on Russian President Vladimir Putin,»
— AP reports. Back in December, the US bullied Mexico into allowing genetically modified corn in tortillas. Mexico tried to ban GM corn sprayed with glyphosate from tortillas to protect public health and the environment. However, under the trade agreement we have with Mexico, the USMCA, they’re not allowed to decide what they’ll import. We did the same thing to Thailand back in 2019. The United States routinely engages in agricultural colonialism. #usmca #mexico Don't miss it, subscribe to 📱 Old Glory Vortex
