Democratic Governor of Colorado Jared Polis and Republican Governor of Oklahoma Kevin Stitt are asking President Trump to allow state governors to control the bulk of the country's immigration policy. Polis, which has been one of the leading advocates for illegal immigrants in the country, and Stitt, who has often been soft on illegal immigrants, says they want Trump to allow them to issue work permits to illegal immigrants, a task that is currently handled only by the federal government.

"We want to make sure that we are at the negotiating table on immigration,"
