Assalam alaikum warehmatullahi wabarakatuhu There are both types of hadiths for wearing red I.e allowing and forbidding، for example Sa'sa'ah bin Suwhan said to 'Ali: "O Commander of the Believers! Forbid us from that which the Messenger of Allah [SAW] forbade you from." He said: "He forbade us from Ad-Dubba, Al-Hantam, Al-Ji'ah, and from gold circles (rings), and from wearing silk, and from red Al-Mitharah." Sunan an-Nasa'i 5171 Grade: Sahih (Darussalam) Narrated Al-Bara: The Prophet (ﷺ) was of moderate height having broad shoulders (long) hair reaching his ear-lobes. Once I saw him in a red cloak and I had never seen a more handsome than him." Sahih al-Bukhari 3551 Scholars have made tatbeeq (reconciliation) in these hadiths according to which: It is permissible to wear red clothes if the red is combined with another colour; it is not permissible to wear plain red, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade doing so.
