Our SR-71s were maintained on a rotating basis. Each SR- 71 was rotated into complete overhaul by the best mechanics in the Air Force. In the 1960s it was decided to destroy the tooling so that the SR 71s could not be manufactured again ….that included the tooling for the spare parts.
Phase inspections were 200 and 400 hour intervals.
-The A-12 were maintained at Area 51.
-The SR -71 was trucked from Burbank assembled at Palmdale.
