Ministry of Defence today signed a contract with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited for 240 AL-31FP Aero-Engines for Su-30MKI aircraft at a cost of over Rs 26,000 crore.
These engines are expected to fulfil the need of the Indian Air Force to sustain the operational capability of the Su-30 fleet for the defence preparedness of the country.
HAL would supply 30 aero-engines per annum and all 240 would be delivered in the next eight years.
Indian Air Force Day to be held in Chennai this year.
The Indian Air Force (IAF) will be celebrating its 92nd raising day at Chennai in Tamil Nadu on October 8.
This would be the third time that the IAF Day celebration has taken place outside Delhi.
Before this, Chandigarh and Prayagraj had hosted the IAF Day in 2022 and 2023, respectively

India para-athlete Hokato Hotozhe Sema, 40, who won bronze medal in men's shot put F57 event at Paris Paralympics, said his wife "often starved" so that he could eat and continue his training. "We didn't have enough money to ensure two square meals a day. She has been my biggest pillar of support," he stated.
