NHRC Chairman - Former Supreme Court Judge V. Ramsubramanian
✔️ On December 23, 2024, President Droupadi Murmu appointed former Supreme Court judge V. Ramsubramanian as the 9th Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). Priyank Kanungo and Dr. Justice Bidyut Ranjan Sarangi (retired) were also appointed as members of the NHRC.
✔️ The position of NHRC Chairman had been vacant since June 1, 2024, after the tenure of the 8th Chairman, Justice (Retd.) Arun Kumar Mishra, ended. Justice (Retd.) V. Balasubramanian will replace Vijaya Bharti Sayani, who had been serving as the acting Chairman of the NHRC.
✔️ The NHRC was established on October 12, 1993, under the provisions of the Protection of Human Rights Act (PHRA), 1993.
The President of India has accepted the resignation of Shri Raghubar Das as the Governor of Odisha.
(i) Mizoram Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati was appointed the Governor of Odisha.
(ii) General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh, PVSM, AVSM, YSM (Retd) was appointed as the Governor of Mizoram.
(iii) Bihar Governor Shri Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar was appointed the Governor of Kerala.
(iv) Kerala Governor Shri Arif Mohammed Khan was appointed the Governor of Bihar.
(v) Shri Ajay Kumar Bhalla was appointed as the Governor of Manipur.

▪️For the first time, choice-based posting has been introduced. Each personnel will have the opportunity to list 10 preferred posting locations.
▪️The CISF personnel retiring within two years will be given a posting out of three choices of locations and they will be given priority.
▪️In the case of women and couples, after six years of Non-Choice posting, their remaining services will be 'choice-based' posting.
