Dear Students, The Department of Student Services has announced updates to the Dormitory Rules. The changes are effective immediately and apply to all students residing in university dormitories. Here are the key changes you should be aware of: • Unauthorized residency: Unregistered or unauthorized residency in a dormitory will result in a permanent ban on applying for university housing. • Paid relocation: After the free relocation period in October, students may request additional room relocations on a paid basis. The fee will increase with each request: • 1st paid relocation — 30,000 KZT per person • 2nd paid relocation — 60,000 KZT per person • 3rd paid relocation — 90,000 KZT per person • ID card sharing: Sharing your ID card with another person or using someone else’s ID card is strictly prohibited. A violation will result in immediate eviction for one academic semester. • Alcohol and substances: Being on university grounds while under the influence of alcohol will result in a 5 MCI fine(21 625 tenge), regardless of where the alcohol was consumed. Consuming or storing alcohol on campus continues to result in immediate eviction for one semester. • Roommate conflicts: Everyday household matters are expected to be resolved directly between roommates. Violations will be addressed through a progressive penalty system, ranging from a Warning Note to eviction for one semester, depending on the severity and recurrence of the violation. For violations of the Dormitory Rules or Student Code of Conduct, students should contact the DSS Advocacy Unit at studentconduct@nu.edu.kz. • Sanitary and behavioral violations: A 5 MCI fine(21 625 tenge) has been introduced for first-time violations related to kitchen cleanliness, vandalism, noise disturbances, and alcohol/substance-related misconduct. • Eviction move-out period: Students who receive an eviction protocol now have 5 days, instead of 3 days previously, to vacate their room and return university property. • Leaving the dormitory during breaks: Students who fail to vacate their rooms by the required deadline during Winter or Summer breaks will be charged the applicable break-period tariff for each additional day and may face disciplinary sanctions, including immediate eviction. We encourage everyone to review the updated Dormitory Rules carefully and familiarize themselves with the changes. The full version of the Rules is available on my.nu.edu.kz → Student Housing → Dormitory Rules. Warmest regards, Student Government🤍

A small reminder about our shared spaces 🧹 We've noticed that common areas near the coffee spots on campus have been looking pretty messy this past week - a lot of used cups, food wrappers, and leftovers are left behind on tables. These spaces are shared by everyone, and keeping them clean is a simple way we can all look out for each other. Before you head off, please take a moment to clear your table and toss your trash in the nearest bin. Small effort make big difference, so let's keep our campus spaces clean and welcoming for everyone! Best Regards, Ministry of Residential Life and Security 🫐

Observations regarding Accessible (Open) Campus policy Dear Students, Over the past weeks, many of you have reached out to us with concerns about the open campus policy and the changes it has brought to campus security and daily life. This is an ongoing issue for the Student Government, and we are actively raising it with the administration. To do that effectively, we need up to date data that reflects how students actually feel right now That's why we're relaunching our survey on the Open Campus initiative. A few important notes: - If you already filled it in before, please do it again or update your answers. Opinions may have shifted, and we want the numbers to be accurate. - If you haven't responded yet, now is the time, since every response counts and strengthens our position. - The survey takes just a few minutes. Your answers directly shape how we represent student concerns to the administration and how seriously they are taken. The more responses we collect, the stronger the case we can make on your behalf. https://forms.gle/cZKbAHaPYtrXDHR39 We'll keep you updated as things develop. Thank you for taking a few minutes to make your voice heard 💙 Warmest regards, Student Government
