Better safe than sorry: Eviction till the end of studies for overnight stays ⚠️ We’ve recently been receiving a lot of messages from students who are unaware of how strict certain dormitory rules actually are — especially regarding overnight stays in rooms. According to the official Policy and Procedures for Room Allocation and Accommodation, providing your dorm room to third parties (including other students or resident assistants), as well as allowing overnight stays for individuals not officially assigned to your room, is considered a serious violation! Sanctions for this go as far as eviction from the dormitory until the end of your studies (not semester) ⛔️ We understand that this may come as a surprise to many, but it’s important to note that these rules are strictly enforced, and exceptions or leniency are not typically applied. Please, stay aware and take care of your living status on campus 🤍 Warm regards, SG Ministry of Residential Life and Security 🧚

NU Security Office and SG MRS meeting 📝 Following the recent meeting, we would like to share official information provided by the NU Security Office regarding safety and rule enforcement on campus over the past 8 months ⏳ In this period alone, there were 550 traffic rule violations, with 19 individuals placed on the blacklist (restricted access with car for 6 months) ⛔️ Of these cases, 14% involved students, while the rest involved staff, faculty, and external visitors There were also more than 110 cases of unauthorized access, more than 30 smoking violations, 26 road accidents on campus, and 10 cases related to alcohol and intoxication ❗️ These numbers are not just statistics — they represent risks to people’s safety, well-being, and peace of mind. We thank the NU Security Office for their daily work and commitment to our community’s safety Warm regards, SG Ministry of Residential Life and Security 🦖

Official Response: Internet at Campus 📝 According to the internet, the slowdown was partly caused by the expansion of the campus Wi-Fi network, which increased the number of connected devices and overall usage. The University has also been upgrading older Wi-Fi 4 equipment to newer Wi-Fi 6 access points 📈 In addition,
Starting from February 16, 2026, the total campus Internet bandwidth was increased from 4.5 Gbps to 6 Gbps — a 30% increase. The IT team will continue monitoring the network and plans further improvements if needed 🫡
The IT Office reported that:
On February 23, 2026
, IT staff conducted connectivity tests in the student dormitories and
DID NOT identify significant issues
at that time ⁉️
If you are still experiencing weak, unstable, or low-quality Internet, please make sure to submit a request through the IT Helpdesk portal: helpdesk.nu.edu.kz. 👈🏻 We kindly ask You to submit report 🫵🏼 Your reports matter — the more cases are submitted, the easier it is for the IT team to identify and address problem areas! Warm regards, SG Ministry of Residential Life and Security 🦖

Dear Students, We would like to share several important updates following a recent meeting with the Security Office and the Department of Student Services. Additional turnstile will be placed in weak spots to prevent unauthorized entry in places such as C2, Daily Cup entry, and SkyWalk area. Installation is planned to begin in early March. Implementation of the curfew is not planned. All reported cases of inappropriate behavior by security staff have been officially forwarded. As a result, additional training sessions will be conducted for security officers to prevent such situations in the future. Dormitory Rules: - Astana residents are not allowed to stay in dormitory buildings after 22:00. - Studying at night is allowed, but sleeping in dormitory atriums is strictly prohibited. This applies to residents of that block and all other students. - MyNU, as well as a photo of your student ID will be accepted on an equal basis with a physical student ID. - Carrying your student ID is mandatory at all times. What security is authorized to do: - Request you to show your Student ID or MyNU, ask for an identity document - Visually inspect a student or their bag (without searching it) - Record video if necessary Students also allowed to record video and security staff will be notified about it. Security Statistics for the last 8 months Unauthorized access: 110 cases Suspicious behavior: 8 case Alcohol-related incidents: 10 cases We would like to remind that all security measures on campus are implemented for the safety of students, and we kindly ask you to treat these rules and procedures with understanding. Another meeting is scheduled for the next week. We will continue to keep you updated as new information becomes available. Sincerely, Ministry of Residential Life and Security

Gym Equipment in the Sports Center💪🏻🏋️ Recently, students have raised concerns about the condition of some equipment in the Sports Center gym and requested updates to existing machines, as well as the addition of new equipment currently not available. The SG Ministry of Residential Life and Security in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports and Health discussed this matter with the Sports Complex Management and would like to inform students that the issue is being actively addressed. At this stage, a list of equipment for renewal and additional purchase has been prepared. The Sports Complex Management is making efforts to complete the updates and expand the gym equipment within this year. We will continue to monitor the progress and keep students informed about further updates. Best regards, SG MRS & MSH

📣 Update on Privacy Curtains in the Athletic Center Changing Rooms 📣 Following students’ concerns about privacy in the girls’ shower areas of the Athletic Center, the SG Ministry of Residential Life and Security along with the Ministry of Sports and Health reported the issue to the Sports Complex Management. We inform students that privacy curtains have been installed, and we appreciate the prompt response to address this concern. At the same time, we would like to note that according to sanitary and hygiene standards, fabric curtains in shared changing rooms are not an optimal solution, as they can accumulate moisture and bacteria, increasing health risks. We remain committed to ensuring both privacy and hygienic safety on campus and will continue discussions with the Sports Complex Management to explore more sustainable alternatives. Best regards, SG MRS & MSH

Dear students, Regarding the issue of internet quality in the dormitories and on campus, we have discussed this matter with DSS and received an official response from the team responsible for network traffic.
The number of students has increased, which directly affects internet speed and overall quality. The internet is distributed evenly across the dormitories and the campus, and no individual prioritization is applied. At this moment, no further inspections or technical reviews of internet quality are being conducted.
Additionally, due to the number of student complaints, we will be sending an official letter to the university management to formally raise this issue on behalf of the residents. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Warm regards, Ministry of Residential Life and Security 🧚‍♂️
