JRF position Application for the post of a JRF in a research project funded by the DBT, India Title: Deciphering protein folding dynamics and cell mechanics ex vivo This project aims to design protein constructs by systematically varying parameters that contrib- utes in the folding pathway, and quantify the effects at the single-molecule level using high- precision home-build Magnetic Tweezer. Further, we need to culture chick hair cells and meas- ure their mechanics ex vivo condition. The selected candidate is expected to focus on Instru- mentation, molecular Biology, and cell biology part initially depending upon interests, and even- tually explore the other aspect. The fellow will eventually be absorbed to a PhD program with mutual agreement. We are an interdisciplinary research group who use single molecule techniques to understand biology quantitatively. Emoluments (year wise): For JRF: INR 31000/ 31000/ 35000 + HRA (As per project norms) Essential Qualifications: The applicants should hold a 5 yr master degree in Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Bi- ological Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, or 4 yr-engineering degree in any discipline. The candidate must have qualified GATE and/or NET to be considered for JRF. It is essential that the candidates have strong interests in learning some of the state-of-the art single molecule techniques we routinely perform in lab using AFM and fluorescence micro- scope.
